Aren’t you supposed to have cement board around the shower so that you don’t have a leak and get mold and mildew?
@pavel0900 Жыл бұрын
I’m sure the sound penetration was affected by all that insulation inside the walls. However, what you managed to test and prove at the beginning was the lack of echo in the room without the drywall.

I see your point
@no-passport-needed2 жыл бұрын
Haha you basically had a new recording studio with the raw insulation! Your voiceover audio always sounds great anyways, so no need obviously
@GoldenKeyDesign2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I was surprised how much better it sounded! And thanks for the feedback on the voiceovers - I invested in an Audio-Technica mic and really love the audio quality!

@GoldenKeyDesign my attached garage has faced insulation but no drywall. Will the drywall make a difference in comfort temperature wise?

Why not using rock wool in exterior wall? If so it would need vapor barrier also?
@keatonvols71205 ай бұрын
I’m in the middle of doing this. My door is located in the same exact spot. Are you not supposed to use a full piece around the door? Won’t that too right seem crack? I had mine like yours and took it down to do a full piece but might put it back up cause that isn’t easy
@wiiiz37 ай бұрын
i noticed you only put used a vapor barrier on the bathroom wall with fiberglass and not rockwool. Is a vapor barrier needed with rockwool?
@GoldenKeyDesign7 ай бұрын
Vapor barriers are only needed on exterior walls. Doesn’t matter which insulation you use

Hi, how much per square feet cost such a job ???

I heard that vapor barriers (plastic/vinyl sheeting) will actually cause mold growth. Not sure myself but I've been doing research bc we are in the process of doing our bathroom. It seems to be a coin flip from my research ppl swear by it and that it is a must others have had horror stories tearing and demo-ing walls with vapor barriers. So idk do you know anything about this before we start our walls?
@GoldenKeyDesign Жыл бұрын
Great point! I’ve also heard both sides. In my experience, when I do demo I rarely ever see mold on the vapor barrier and this house was built 40 years ago. If there is mold, it’s usually a different issue. From what I’ve researched, if you live in the north, use a vapor barrier. If you live in south (no cold winters), a vapor barrier isn’t necessary. I don’t think you can go wrong either way though. Hope that helps 😅

Maybe obvious, but I hope you also have a vent fan to get rid of excess moisture.

Was that cement drywall?
@Loya1ty7 ай бұрын
For those coming across this video at a later time, look up the differences between vapor barrier and air barrier. I live in a climate with moderately cold winters, and warm humid summers so I get both climates. Vapor barrier is a no-no. but air barrier, something like rigid foam board, is okay as its vapor permeable to allow drying both ways, but reduces the extremes of cold and warm air transfer.

Is it a cement drywall or just regular?
@GoldenKeyDesign2 жыл бұрын
Regular drywall that is mold resistant! Check out the next couple episodes to see me waterproof it. Other option is to use durock and red guard. Hope that helps!
