It would have been nice to see further steps in your educational videos such as skim coats and priming. Phil how would I take peeling paint off a ceiling. Looks like Previous owner just painted the ceiling and it's flaking off.

Use a 6 inch drywall knife and scrape it completely down and then you'll have to take mud thin it down roll it on with a half inch and a half roller then Tip It Off you'll have to skim coat the whole ceiling to make it smooth
