Angles can be taped easily with a compound tube and do not need a roller to set the tape.

I bought the same Can Am and I get the same results in the Northern part of Wisconsin! It works great and I got it from your videos so I thank you. Cheers to the MudSlinger!! A little Iron Maiden goes a long way when doing this kind of work.

I got rid of my corner roller years ago when I bought the Better Than Ever corner tools. The 2" flusher works fine for bedding and glazing the angles

Just when I think I've seen every method, I get surprised again. Very Interesting idea, I'm always looking to improve the quality of my corners. Have another house to tape in 2 days, Im a supertaper(small job) and bazooka(largejob) guy, but will clean cobwebs off tube and applicator and give it a try.

Give it a go. Just remember not to press too hard with the tube. After all you can only set the tape so far. Hardest part is figuring out how much mud to put on top. A little practice.

I tested your technique which works well but once dry, did you finally iron it wider for the finish?
@Mudslingr
@Mudslingr 2 жыл бұрын
Yes. This was a 2" flusher. When it's dry at some point of my routine I will put on a finish coat with a 3" which covers the 2" edge. That video will be coming up in a few days. It's usually the last step of my routine.

hi, im wondering why you choose to do it this way rather than useing a roller. I can clearly see that it works, but its still the same number of steps and in the end uses a little more mud. do you find it gives you a knowtessly better finish, or is it simply to avoid having to carry a roller?
@Mudslingr
@Mudslingr 7 жыл бұрын
Sometimes a roller will squeeze the mud out too far or not enough depending on the angle. By embedding and adding mud to it with the tube I am guaranteed a filled and feathered finish.

Does the bte and Columbia 4 wheel inside applicator only run mud out 1" lime the can am?I kno the plastic tapepro and tapetech are wider
@Mudslingr
@Mudslingr 7 жыл бұрын
I could not tell you that because I have never tried BTE or Columbia applicators. I take off the wheels on my Can-Am. I like to feel the head float on the mud. Let's me know better how much I am applying.

Have to run it a little slower and lighter touch so you don't squish it out while running backwards. Like you have figured out, just a little practice. I only run it backwards on stand ups. Not always neatly. Too messy on upper angles to run backwards.

Oh Great Slingr of the mud couple questions bout the tube system do you do your upright angles and let them dry then the top angles ive been having issues with the tape folding over in the three ways when flushing also I use dura bond most of the time should I wait til im on second coat or just run my angles through the mesh? great vids love the one with the tunes.
@Mudslingr
@Mudslingr 6 жыл бұрын
I like to do the stand ups all the way around first. I'll give the tops a wipe after I do a room. Then I'll start the top angles where I started stand ups first. They should be dry enough not to snag since I've wiped them already. But if you only have a room or two there isn't much drying time. Don't flush all the way into the three way. Stay a flusher head away from the three way. You have to clean it up after anyway. Thanks !

I like to take my wheels off. This way I can feel the head float on the mud which let's me know how much mud I'm applying. It's all in the speed and pressure.

Great technique Mud Slingr. I have tried it and it works great. I just had a question for the second coat. When I use the tube to apply the mud for the 2nd coat, the applicator drags and does not move easily. do you know why? it is a Columbia applicator. Thanks.
@Mudslingr
@Mudslingr 8 жыл бұрын
Are you getting enough mud on to flush it out properly ? If so , you may have to live with the drag. But I bet it's because your flusher is new ? Work it in a bit. It will get smoother. I prefer two top wheels if any. And I like to feel my tube riding on a bed of mud which slides real nice. Just a matter of speed and pressure of the mud coming out. I'm sure you realize you don't have to push hard into the corner with the tube.
@riderrrr206
@riderrrr206 8 жыл бұрын
+Mud Slingr thanks for your reply. First coat it is very smooth and flushes really nice. But second coat, the applicator doesn't slide. I see your point that the applicator has to slide on the mud. I am not feeling that. How can I get it to slide on the mud? my applicator is 4 wheeler and second coat leaves black mark on the corner since it has a black coating of paint.
@Mudslingr
@Mudslingr 8 жыл бұрын
Take your bottom wheels off. That should make the difference. All wheels off is good too but you have to really watch how much pressure you apply or else you end up squishing the mud too wide and end up with ridges. Sounds like you got it though.

I've never seen you wet tape with for example a super taper. Why do you prefer dry tapeing?
@Mudslingr
@Mudslingr 8 жыл бұрын
I prefer an auto taper actually, but only on larger residential jobs. I also prefer dry taping over a supertaper or a shitbox. A little slower but much cleaner. And it works very well.

Auto tools originally. When I went on my own I saw a really tall dude using a tube even though he could have taped an 8' ceiling off his knees. Threw my shitbox away and never looked back. Haven't used a roller with this system in about 17-18 years

Pretty cool tool but don't see the use in it if you know how to run a bazooka cause it's twice as fast unless it's a small job and not worth getting a bazooka all dirty .

How thin should my mud be ?Thanks Ryan. .
@Mudslingr
@Mudslingr 7 жыл бұрын
Best way to describe it is like pancake batter. Quite thin. If you're pushing too hard with your flusher or not filling properly thin it out some more.
@Ocanadakiter
@Ocanadakiter 7 жыл бұрын
Ok thanks think i made it a bit thick today lots of excess mud and tapes didn't look beautiful. Also got a few small wrinkles. Was using flusher head with wheel.Not sure if i like using it...😂
@Mudslingr
@Mudslingr 7 жыл бұрын
When applying the mud with the tube I like to feel the head float on the mud as I fill. Don't want it to touch the wall. Keeps from taking mud off the angle and leaves just the right amount. The fill on top of the tape is more important. Just takes practice.
