Hey there! What a great video! Would it be possible to get the inner and outer diameters of the washers and seals you replaced? The original parts are so hard to get in some countries. Would really save me (and im sure some more people) a lot of time and potentially even money.

@@eriii276 Hi Eriii276 Thanks very much .Glad you enjoyed the video . I dont have those parts in hand to get the dimensions on but will try when I get a chance .One trick you can sometimes have success with is using the crush washers that come with new spark plugs . They surprisingly fit many drain plugs . I have used them in a pinch when nothing else as available . Thanks again I will try and find the O ring dimensions asap .Cheers

What is safety wire on drain bolts?
@TRyanLearnBikes Жыл бұрын
It's common mostly on race bikes .Basically it's a small hole drilled in the cap of the drain bolt to allow a wire to be threaded through it ( after being tightened) and anchored to a secure point on the frame or adjacent bolt .It Gaurantees the bolt can't come loose .

What’s ‘safety wire’? Great vid mate. From Australia

So there are 3 drainage bolts. Which one could i replace with an oil pressure sensor? Best one dor accurate reading should be the main oil drainage bolt in the bottom of the Motor? Right
@TRyanLearnBikesАй бұрын
Well sir I've asked some pro mechanics about your inquiry .The frame drain and the main drain plug won't work well for you , which leaves the small drain plug near the oil filter as a potential spot .These engines don't run with much oil pressure at all with a roller bearing crank. Your sensor will have a very low scale probably less that 5psi max . I don't know anyone that has an oil pressure sensor on their DRZ and it does'nt seem to be a contentious issue in the DRZ community when I look into it . Having said that I'm sure someone out there has installed one successfully .I will keep digging into it for a definitive answer but for now thats all I've got for you . Hope that helps in some small way . If you do find some solid intel please let me know in this thread and I'll make a video about it to help others . Cheers

Should you replace the washers from the banjo bolt and the oil filter drain bolt washer everytime like the crush washers? If not, how often? Thank you
@TRyanLearnBikes Жыл бұрын
Well Joseph you make an interesting point .It's a good idea to replace most any sealing type washer when you get the opportunity .While I did not replace them in the video .If I had new ones at the time I definitely would have .Know that I have ordered all of the washers required for the next oil change and will be certain to install them then .They cost so little and it's good insurance to replace them when you can . Thanks for the great question. Cheers 🍻

Wish I had this video when I changed the oil yesterday in my new 23 sm. Apparently I put the crush washer on the front drain upside down.... I got confused also b/c they only sent me one crush washer when I purchased the kit, even though there are two drain bolts. Nothing has leaked as of yet, so I think I'm ok. I will make sure next time I ask for both crush washers, and put them in facing the right way. I don't think it's worth draining and redoing it all and wasting oil if it's currently not leaking. Thoughts?

Not to worry man , you'll be fine .There's lots of guys out there who never replace the washer at all or use all kinds of other bits and pieces to save a buck .If you get a chance take a look at the video I recently put out about an oil change on a suzuki bandit There's lots of comments about crush washers high lighted in that one ..you.may get a chuckle its pretty funny what some people say .Cheers my friend and thanks for taking the time to comment.

What do you mean to use safety wire??
@TRyanLearnBikes5 ай бұрын
It's typically a procedure done on race engines that secures a bolt in position once its torqued down .The bolt head would have a small hole drilled through it that allows a thin wire to pass through and be secured to a fixed point on the frame or engine. It may be a little bit over the top for some people. But it's a failsafe way to be 100 % sure nothing comes loose .That's why it's a must on any race bike to pass tech .If you observe proper torque settings you should be ok in most normal road bike applications .Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers 🍻

Hello, I've bought recently a 400 DR-Z and a I make my first oil change but I forgot to empty oil in the front frame (sorry my bad....) I replace oil and the 1.8 liter goes inside without overflow. Should I be worried to have to much oil in the frame/engine ? Or the whole previous oil had gone out by the engine hole because its the lowest point of both oil change holes ? Thank you for your help
@TRyanLearnBikes Жыл бұрын
There's a good chance you have too much oil in the bike .It will only show the correct level of oil on the dip stick when the engine is warm . It's an easy mistake to make .I would start over by draining the frame and engine and if you change the filter add 1.8 liters .of oil. If you don't change the filter add 1.7 liters. Then warm.the engine and check the dip stick ...its very important to check when warmed up .That's how you will get true read .

@@TRyanLearnBikes If only I had a clue what that meant. Obviously it’s a « secret », but sadly there’s no manual and fortunately I don’t care. You continue to try and learn, eh? Just remember the world is always well ahead of you and when you « discover » something new, don’t assume your prior ignorance was a result of a cover-up conspiracy. I consider it like this you have tight that you can’t undo by hand and you need a tool. And then way up on the other end you have a tight that snaps the bolt head off ....... but in the middle, you will find reasonably tight….lol
