STUDER C37 TUBE REEL TO REEL RECORDER

Greetings from Vienna. As employee of Studer Austria I used to repair and align many of these machines in the early eighties. From the C37, the small A62, and the A80 from 2 to 24 tracks… To be honest: Today I prefer the features and quality of my digital DAW.

Never seen this machine. Willie Studer sure made some beautiful machines. I owned both the A-77 and B-77 Revox decks. They were just glorious running Ampex 456 tape.

Anyone that can restore and calibrate a C37 from over 60 years ago is a tape machine wizard. I personally prefer the A80 though - less maintenance and much longer hours of stability.

Several jaw-drop moments during this video of such a fine restoration... then the playback begins. I hadn't prepared for 'Speak To Me / Breathe'! Mindblowing playback - may I inquire as to the source? My desire for gear has went up a notch or two! What an excellent job, and thank you for such a nicely filmed video.

Thanks, no the heads have different parameters because of tube amplifiers inside (inductance etc...). You can not use Revox heads here.
