The sound is Unbelievable! Omg! What a masterpiece! Love Nagra to death

How do you judge the sound? It's a good mix you hear on KZbin with it's lossy Codec, maybe with some random speakers. But you thing the Nagra is responsible for the quality...?? That's nonsense.

@@hafibeat834 Doesn’t require an extensive intellect to simply understand that the fact you’re hearing a superb sound, even through KZbin, is because Nagra is delivering it! The reproduction equipment can destroy a great mix or mastering, so it doesn’t matter if the song was created in the most expensive studio by the best engineer.

@@ivoleary6332 If you assume that the Sound you hear is "great", the whole Chain has to be great. So what you are basically saying ist: The Codec of YT sounds great. And you are somewhat right. In the other hand, the Nagra ist not about sound first, it was about tons of features and professionel use. If you ever worked with a Tape Recorder, you knew that There are many Parameters to Take Care about, and that every Tape recording is more or less compromised. The advent of 16/48 PCM-Recorders (Open Reel or DAT) was a blessing for High-Fidelity and became first choice for most Users who could afford that.

@@hafibeat834 Exactly! Achieving Great audio, therefore electricity, is all about dealing with losses. The less you lose, the better it will be. Any equipment degrades the audio, either cheap components, bad design or simply thermal conditions. My point is, a superb tape recorder like this, delivers the sound so great and close to its original that, even after aggressive processing like KZbin and the speakers that we are using right now, the sound is still great. Wow this was the longest discussion I had on KZbin my entire life… hehe. But it’s cool. Thanks for discussing this with me. Cheers

@@ivoleary6332 You are welcome. Still - you overestimate the soundpotential of such recorders or analogue recording in general...

Great sound, much more pleasant to my taste than the original digital recording, and for those who say that digital sound is better I answer that it is not about that, if I wanted the greatest fidelity with respect to the real sound I would not listen to a full mix of equalization, compression and effects made from a recording of multiple microphones at extremely small distances and from multiple angles with different capsules in the instrument box and with phase correction software. If you want 100% natural and accurate sound, hire the band to perform the album in your garage

Bro what is that thing??? That would revolutionize my mix down and editing process (Not to cheat on my ampex, she’s tough as nails and amazing lol but still). I’ve never seen a two track where you don’t have to touch the flange to find your beat while splicing.
