That doesn't necessarily mean they hadn't thought of it during the writing of this episode. I doubt that Bashir ever mentions it in his personal log, and there's no way he doesn't fake his medical exam results somehow (Or he'd have been busted the first time he needed any medical attention himself)
@Djarra6 жыл бұрын
@@TheDjbz The genetic enhancement wasn't planned by the writers so it doesn't have a bearing on earlier episodes. However to get the enhancement done the Bashir's had to go out of Federation territory and it's known that the Cardassians use genetic engineering, so it isn't beyond the realm of possibilities that a human family getting such a procedure would be noted by the Obsidian Order. Information that would come up in a cross check decades later, so when Garak chose to sit at Bashir's table he knew that Bashir would be useful, and when Tain told the military not to interfere with Bashir when he visited him he wanted to protect a potential asset. You can read a lot into stuff Garak said over the years that points in that direction. Then after it becomes public knowledge Garak implies he knew all along. Although even if he hadn't known he'd still imply that he did. so you can't read too much into that.
