In 1995 Red Rum passed away age 30. This was front page news and main headlines across the world. The BBC produced a great tribute video to a horse that had captured the nations hearts. All the great moments from the horses career combined along with the famous muscial peice from the film Champions. Red Rum will never be forgotten!

A remarkable horse. Even when his chances of winning that elusive ground breaking grand national seemed impossible after 2 runner up positions in 1975 and 1976, Red Rum defied all odds and claimed his holy grail with his historic 1977 win. The king of Aintree was back where he belonged at the top of the tree. As luck would have it, Red Rum retired as champion too due to an injury. In retirement Red Rum enjoyed his celebrity status, quite simply there will never be another horse that touched peoples hearts like the late great Red Rum. RIP Grand National King.

more personality than many a sportsman can muster. and the reason i still go to the national now. 3oth year this time, not including bomb scares and convid, only ever saw him lead the parade of champions and he was cheered like he'd just won another.

First horse I ever won money on and won' the National when it was a killer of a course to complete. Shame he suffered a late hairline fracture which kept him out of the 1978 race and would loved him to have won and ended with a record of 1,1,2,2,1,1.
