I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use kzbin.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

it's more dangerous, the cable wire split and join together then whole mechine vibrates can't handle. soldering will not give strength, arc welding will give strength however cable cut in the middle. I suggest cuse weed cutting plastic cable.

Interesting about the lead welding. I made a similar modification and at first it was bad ass but the wire started to fatigue and shoot out like bullets. I think I still have wire fragments in my legs.. I have a 10 year old Stihl FS 56, I found out that the fixcut 3-2 head replacement work’s best. I’m able to use .155 string and it’s super durable. Leaving steel wire pieces all over the place or in your leg is a bad idea.
@LeChristEstRoi
@LeChristEstRoi 4 жыл бұрын
Leaving plastic line pieces which take at least decades before decomposing all over the place is also a bad idea. When I realised I regularly litter my property with pounds of plastic (at least half a pound of trimmer line per year!) I felt pretty uneasy about that! I mostly use metal blades but in some places with lots of rocks plastic line is more convenient and does a better job...but I'm currently looking for something which can replace plastic...

I don't have a video on my adaptation. Nonetheless, here goes. I ran a solid piece of very thin stainless steed wire, similar to a bicycle spoke wire, but, out of stainless. Stainless steel will come right back to its shape during whacking. I ran it through the bobbin. I secured it with some little bolts that are hollow and have nuts. It is set. I fixed these little bolts and nuts to the exterior part of the hub, ran the wire through the bolt-nut assembly. I haven't used plastic trimmer wire in years. I do caution. Use pants and boots when operating this adaptation. You never know when the wire will shoot free and spike you or someone. Good luck.

So wire wheels are ok for bench grinders, drills, angle grinders.. but then all these comments on the dangers of “shrapnel” from the same people who would have done the welding without shade 10 or needed a warning label to tell you soldering may be hot. You’re too dumb to handle a cup of coffee without a warning label. Mankind really is a lost cause.

I use my old guitar strings. They already have the little brass barrels on the end so they will stay in the holes with a washer in front of it.No welding, no soldering.Just a little wrap of duct tape to prevent the string from pushing back in while handling the trimmer when it’s not running. Centrifugal force keeps the strings in place while the trimmer is spinning.

very stupid!! Why?? No 1: his welds will throw it off balance.. No 2: he welded a bolt with a nylon threaded nylon it.. thus melting the nylon inserts..defeating the purpose of the nylon threaded locking nut .. No 3: Really soldering the threads together...defeats the purpose of the braided line and finally No 4: Just Ask my high school bud what happened to him back in the 1980's a family member tried this..with a slow corded trimmer... the braided wire broke off within a minute sending pieces over 40 ft away into his throat and voice box. There is not one good thing about this other.. than the metal wire will rust to nothing faster than normal line will as they break off in the yard etc. CHRIST KIDS>>stop trying to reinvent or discover stuff that was already done 20 plus years ago. Much rather see you alive doing videos .. than hearing you or someone near you was hurt due to this modification

The head design is good, but I’d stick with nylon. Cheaper and easier to deal with. Plus less risk for injury.

That is a pretty skookum (AvE word) weed-wacker head. Maybe a follow-up video in a month or two would be interesting to us. Oh, and BTW, you might want to clean your equipment every once in a while.

Пробовали лет 15 назад на работе заменять леску . Не выходит. Пропаянный трос за секунду распаевается в хлам . Чо только не мудрили , бестолку.

Lol, what? Since when is that a stipulation of "do it yourself" projects??? 😂😂 Many people own welders.... And besides, you could accomplish this in many different ways, without the use of a welder.
