DSi led mod + XCM crystal case

Read the description please.
Before you ask, no, the battery is not dead in 2 seconds.
I warn you before you buy the case: it sucks. I've had it for about 6 months now and its really just falling apart, terrible...
I got the xcm case from www.thegametrai...
The leds on the top are directly connected to the speakers in parallel. The leds at the bottom are connected to the two most right pins on slot-1.
I'm not responsible for anything you do with your ds.

The only reason cases like that fall apart so easily is because of their build. Also, you should just use it to appreciate it, I run classic games on mine for the sake of nostalgia. Take advantage of what you own.

Actually, it Looks like he connected the LEDs to the Speakers, so basically, he could turn the lights off. Also, some People like me, like to see the insides of a Device, that Shows you just how much efford the Developer has put intoit. It does certainly look that way." Well, back to my comment: adding these Lights must've been quite a chore, given that you had to store everything inside the DSi without killing it. I personally would've liked it better, if Nintendo would've just release theit consoles in a transparent coror as well(remembering the glory Days of the transparent GBC). Since I'm into Technology, I do like to be able to look inside such interesting devices. Annother useful side-effect is, that you're sometimes able to see damages, easier, like a broken/overheated Components, or even if there seems to be some color-changes at parts(oftenly a sign of that part being Close to overheat), or to see,if the Battery(rechargeable or not) starts to leak(Battery-fluids may damage the device they're placed in).

I love those added LED blue lights to the empty space on the system, as well as attach and program them to dim and light at the reaction of any sound! Truly a masterpeice and took quite awhile I suppose

I actually was really disappointed with the dsi and the 3ds... waiting for nintendo to bring me something new and not just a remake with added features... like the gameboy to ds was completely different, but when they made the ds chain, I just gave up on nintendo's handhelds... I am also waiting for their next console because the wiiu is extremely laggy at times because of its bad cpu... point is, the dsi is not perfect, but its good for what it does. I've just wasted 5 minutes of your life! NO!

Nice job man. It looks very cool. Can you disable the LEDs though? I do a lot of my game playing at night in the dark and the LEDs might make it hard to focus on the screens. It would be nice to have a way to dial them down or off like the old Afterburner mods on the GBA (If you remember those)

@Cherubfish quite, and yes it will fall apart, because the case, which you will replace, holds everything together. But the parts are mostly quite big, so if you are a bit skilled with this stuff you'll probably manage if you're careful... And you do not need to now anything about electric circuits no, also no soldering or anything. All you need is a tri-wing screwdriver, to open up the case.

And school doesn't learn you stuff like that. My phisics teacher is really stupid she can't help me with these things.

@megakid39 I bought the clear case and the leds. Don't use an R4, they suck, go ask this question on gbatemp.net to get the best answer (I don't know this stuff anymore), but I think the SupercardDSTwo should do the job just fine

@akalanata13 Well I'm fine, thanks for asking. It's not an actual card, it's a program called DiagnoSe, it should run on any flashcard (I used Acekard 2i). Search on filetrip.net for DiagnoSe, download it, put it on your flashcard, run it.

Well, they do look way cool, but clear (or any transparent) cases suck. The plastic is so fragile compared to their solid coloured counterparts. They wear out really quick, and in just months, they are full of cracks.

well... I believe the trick was to roll the end up a bit and then shove it sideways trough the hinge. It's the most tricky part of the DS. Here you can kind of see it (it's the same with a DS lite): watch?v=jQuV6mkwYZY#t=04m31s

@autobotcharizard meh... bigger is better, you should look at the angle and the brightness of the leds, bigger angle = less bright, but the light goes everywhere and brighter is mostly better

@215310 That doesn't matter, but I did it directly to the speaker. Watch out though; the speaker can melt cause it's plastic. And it's quite fragile so it might die easily. But it's the easiest way though.

I actually made something for my DSi like this but without the lights, a blue see through DSi, unfortunately I broke the black tab that keeps the Touch screen wire in place, used tape and it works now Sadly as well it’s falling apart, so I ordered a orange dsi shell
