everyone has a different workflow....it's cool if 4 tracks is enough for some but it's also quite valid for others to say it's not enough....

Its enough to get down sketches for sure. That's what I use my MC-101 for, which also is limited to 4 tracks. But yeah, you'd be hard pressed to find a professional producer willing to limit themselves to 4 tracks on music intended for release. But that's what the DAW is for, where the sky's the limit.

Okay yes. I may have stepped into 'hot take' mode there. To be clear I wasn't trying to say it's enough for complete tracks and Ableton is being pretty clear about that. But what is possible on the device is more than enough to get decent ideas down if you don't always want to be in front of your main production system. That's also why I bought a MC-101.

I’ve been playing with mine for maybe an hour, and I already have like 3 or 4 different beats I’m very happy with. I really love this device because every time you create a new set it uses random instruments and presets, so you get results immediately. So much more portable than my Push 3 Standalone, and I love that it has a speaker on it, although I wish it was louder and higher quality, but all in all, this device is f’ing awesome

It seems like a waste to not use those unused pads as inputs for something, like additional samples, note repeat, velocity levels,, clip length, ratcheting, etc.

Currently, Sets from Move can not be uploaded back to move. Only to Note, Push or Live. I cant say if this will change or not but I certainly hope that it will.

@@iamjamessmith okay, edited my comment to just ask if it syncs with digitakt, its still not clear after going through the manual. It mentions hi speed usb controllers don’t work which digitakt is, but it’s not apparent if it can control digitakt as a sync host

@@SparkySubie it supports MIDI clock out so if you use one of those USB-A to MIDI-DIN adapters you should be in business with the Digitakt. According to the manual MIDI in only works on the currently selected track with the current firmware so that rules out use as a sound module.

Dataline can play anything! :) Though, I have an impression that this device is rather good for performance but not composing as advertised. Load it with bunch of samples/stems, play scenes a tweak fx. Starting from scratch feels quite daunting and this screen is just too small :)
