Love the inclusion of the overbridge info! Also, it feels like it's been forever since we had a new video, welcome back!

Clicked on this only seeing the title. When you were plugging in the cables I then glanced at the channel name, saw it was you and immediately knew it was going to be good.

Interesting to see you using the Digitakt after praising the Push so heavily as an Octatrack replacement-how are you feeling about DT, OT and Push these days? They're all obviously very different, each with pros and cons. Personally, I got pissed off waiting for NI to pull their finger out with Maschine updates and went back to using Push, but it's still missing some stuff from OT. Guessing Overbridge makes the DT far more pleasant to use than fiddling with OT directly? Bitwig is very promising, but again, quite different too, and whilst DrivenByMoss is amazing for Push and Bitwig, not quite as polished as Push with Live. The big workflow killer for me is the death of ReWire as neither Live nor Bitwig really have all the stuff I need for working on games and picture. ReWire was sample-accurate, bidirectional audio and MIDI, and synced timeline position. Frustrating times in some ways on the software front, but also feel that things are simultaneously suddenly very futuristic and interesting in many ways. If only Ableton Link would do what ReWire did...

If you can't enjoy making music on the OG Digitakt, getting the '2' won't save you.

@@OscillatorSink 🤔 I was saying I love to see him still using the original.. not sure how you read that comment as negative?
@OscillatorSink6 ай бұрын
@@slakk5093 I didn't read it as negative, I was agreeing with you. The "you" here wasn't literally "you". It was a comment on people acting like the original wasn't an amazing instrument just because the 2 now exists. Sorry if you felt attacked - not at all my intention.

would love to hear your thoughts on the new digitakt 2
@MrDataline6 ай бұрын
It's a good update to an already great machine. However, for me, its difficult to get excited over it. 16 tracks are great, but each of the tracks are more or less the same thing, so that makes it a bit useless. Sonically different machines or Poly routings would put the 16 tracks to better use. I do not like the TRACK button has changed position. And looking at it, that button could have been left as it is. Strange decision where I see no reason to change. The new time stretch engine is also a bit useless. I can not do any slicing or anything with it. Just drop in the sample and stretch it. I wish it was more of an effect rather than a playback mechanism, I would have found it more useful. I wish for more sequencer generating modes. The euclidian mode feels pretty outdated, especially after Live12 pattern generating methods blaze all over it. I wish I could change slice points. I wish, I wish... That's what I think about the DT2.

I read that the PS1 startup sound isn't a singular sample in the ROM, but actually "composed" at startup from several samples... Found this video that kind of shows that: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3OYiYukbJmjgNE

So... if you don't mind a little criticism... this would be a bit more impactful if the Sony startup sound was still recognizable in these tunes.
