DST: Ancient Fuelweaver (No Lazy Explorer)

Fuelweaver is a fun and difficult fight that involves a lot more mechanics than any other boss in DST. Even with lazy explorers it is not a simple fight.

Walking near the edges to avoid entrapment - that's a neat trick. I'll be sure to remember to use it. Although, to be honest, I won't try Fuelweaver the first time by myself. I think there needs to be an assignment of roles between several players. There's just too much one person to handle at once. But you did manage, nevertheless. Impressive. Look forward to the next episodes of your Maxwell playthrough, but no pressure. Quality over quantity, my friend, so take as much time as you need. Cheers!

Unfortunately, the corner glitch with the fuelweaver's bone trap was patched. Now, the trap will always properly form, even on the edges of the area.

Man using weather pain with mouse helps a lot while in playstation 4 need tp do it really close to it and will make you stuck and hits you pretty hard :(

Im not sure if you'll read this but will you maybe do a wicker playthrough after you've completed the maxwell one? I'd really like to see how you prioritize things as wicker and what your mindset is while playing her :) I understand you're busy sometimes though. Love your videos!

Thanks. Wickerbottom is one of the 3 characters I played for a very long time and built a megabase. I don't think I would call the way I played Wickerbottom efficient, but I did do a lot of things differently when I played her just because I wanted to try different things. I didn't use pig or bunny farms. Instead I made my world very green with farms, berry bushes, trees, and grass tufts/saplings that were collected by lure plants.

Interesting. I thought farms like bunny farms and pig farms were pretty much essential. Seeing you set them so early in this playthrough just seems impossible!

I really like the pig and bunny farm first most of the time. But I wouldn't call them essential. There are many other farms you could start with and Wickerbottom's Advanced Horticulture book changes a lot of the possibilities. The only thing difficult with Wickerbottom is that I wanted to have a world with a Reed Trap in the swamp. That can take a very long time to find. You can use the first deerclops to clear a good portion of the Reed Trap. Then use Bearger to finish it.

I love these videos! You're way better at this game than I am! Quick question, this isn't exactly about the fuelweaver but I need some tips for reducing serverside lag, whenever I try to host, I lag quite a bit. It makes kiting impossible and it makes it seem like enemies are hitting me from miles away.

I have almost no lag when I host a game, except at the start of each game day and sometimes from my recording software. But I'm not sure what to do if I did lag to make it better. I have those problems when I play on other servers, and I don't really know how to lessen it. Sorry. Hopefully others can comment on this to help both of us:)

I had lag problems aswell but then i allowed all dst stuff through the windows firewall and that seemed to help, my friend did the same thing.

u r wasting a lot of weather pain doing it like this. During stage 2, if he summons the shield i would hold the weather pain and hit the 6 unseen hands, in case the woven shadows reaches the fuel weaver before i destroy all 6, i will tornado him. After the shield is broken, ill go dark sword and dps him regardless of how many woven shadows are left. I will tonado it once the woven shadows come near, and then switch back to ds to dps him. I find it way more efficient this way. With a wolfgang it took me 1 lazy explorer, 1 shadow amulet, 2 queen hat, 2-3 dark sword and about 4-5 log suit.

after you kill this guy in DST, what happens to the caves/ruins? i think the wiki says it "renews" the ruins but what exactly does that mean? completely rebuild meaning you lose all structures? just respawn ancient guardian? or what

Helicalpuma: reassuring to kno. I was going to try n cheese ancient guardian wi 20 spider nests i planted + spiderqueen hats, after the dens had turned T3 etc. I ended up killing it wi rock lobsters sorta by accident. I moved 3 rock lobsters to ancient guardian are (as a plan B back up plan) and decided i would com bk when the rock lobsters had multiplied into a bigger heard. They had other ideas. Unfortunately i wasnt able to move the lobsters to a safe area and they started attacking anciet guardian or vice versa. I was worried they would all die so decided to try n defend my rock lobsters. They killed ancient guardian quite easily, (wi a little help) surprisingly, and slightly disappointing, despite the fact AG only has 10k hp. I was disappointingly wondering if structures built near ruins would disappear after the ruins get reset. The spiderqueen hats seem near as useless as webber, but im hoping to try killing AG wi spiders for something a bit different. Prob tank AG towards the end as i think the spiders will eat AG horn.

It's called a weather pain. It should be under the fight/weapons tab when your crafting by an alchemy engine. I've never played the console version, but I think those things should be the same.

So, I've seen videos of your base with farms, and a video or two of you taking on a boss - my question is this - how the heck???? Firstly, are you playing DST but playing solo, because if so, how did you survive the progressive hound waves to be able to make your base so huge? I am so confused. Day 2,000+ o.O that is crazy. Please enlighten me. Are you spawning stuff in or something? I know you're not in godmode because ive seen you take on damage while doing the krampus farm. I don't get it, and somehow, nobody thus far seems to have asked how this is possible

Hound waves are manageable with traps or other sources of protection. I think hounds reach their maximum possible number of hounds per wave after day 100. So a hound wave at day 100 is the same as as a hound wave at day 2000. The game actually gets easier the longer you play because your base could get more and more productive. So it just takes time and patience if you want to start building a base that is more trophy then utility. I think only players who have actually played with me for extended periods of time will know that I never use console commands. I disabled the option when I realized that they existed a long time ago because I knew that it would ruin the game for me. I'm not saying that everyone should do this. Play the game the way you want to. But in my case, it has made the game a lot of fun for me. I have made a 2k world 3 times and there is no way I could have even lasted 300 days once without getting bored if I ever allowed myself to use console commands. It is just not possible because if you spawn things in the game then there is nothing really for you to do. I do use rollbacks from time to time to undo silly errors or when I am testing or practicing something, or when other players are involved. But I never use console commands.

Flutezmusic: check out Helicalpuma's Maxwell play through. He starts on day 1 and so far is up to nearly 200 if I remember correctly. Maxwell has the lowest hp out of any character so imo is possibly the most difficult to survive while fighting, especially day 100+ hound waves. This play through impressively shows all his strategies for dealing with hound waves. Helicalpuma made every hound wave look like a puppy walk in the park.

Hmm. Haven't tried that. But I did try to wall-in the forest stalker with boulders on the surface once. It didn't work. The stalker just walked over the boulders and destroyed them. It might be the same thing for the Fuelweaver.

You can also clear the ruins for more orange gems. But yes Dragonfly is ok too.

Yeah, it's taking me awhile to edit them. Sorry about that. I have so little time these days. Hopefully, my schedule will clear up in May. I played until day 212 with Maxwell and have 19 parts to the playthrough. But only edited versions for part 1-7 so far.

Heli if you don't mind, i usually play wickerbottom but i want to do something like you did with maxwell, i try to explore whole map and hammer every pig house but then i have winter on me i am on day 22 or so, so i farm cane but with my luck i get only 1 camp and i have to kill walrus 3 times to get my cane hahaha. What advice can you give me to be more efficient on map exploration, i tend to pick up a lot of thing that yes i will use later but they are not a need, should i craft piggy bag with wicker? or what do i really need for days 1 to 15ish to explore?

I wouldn't craft a piggyback. The movement speed penalty is too much while exploring. If you are having problems with inventory, try to be a little more selective with the items that you need. Maybe try focusing on the items that I was gathering in part 1 and 2. Remember though that the schedule is flexible. It's just the way I do things. You can uncover the map and build the pig farm when it is convenient for you.

Willow doesn't really do anything special. I've done it before, but her benefits do not really help all that much. So I played mostly without using her lighter or the teddy bear. Her freezing sanity disadvantage though is kinda interesting. I think she is like Wes. No real benefit, but challenging.

speaking of wes, I think people don't understand his real purpose. really he isn't supposed to be that hard, but rather he is a token of you being good at don't starve because you have to go through adventure mode to get him. and on top of that when you play him he has minimal advantages. they are also rewarded with a new decoration, the balloon, to prove they are good

Wolfgang you can use tentacles for both if you're wickerbottom but it's harder with dragonfly since you have to make a flingo just in case the walls to space the tentacles don't burn,and a pan flute or STS.

16k. It's low for a major boss but there are less opportunities to attack it because the unseen hands make it invulnerable until they are destroyed and the woven shadows that it can consume heal it for 400 each.

I still do that when I fight Toadstool. But it seems less and less needed after the Fuelweaver and the Ruins reset was introduced into the game. I still do it if I want to preserve the volt goat horn, but it doesn't really make sense to me anymore if I'm doing it to preserve the gear.

Helicalpuma: kool to kno it can b done. The wiki suggest deconstructing thulecite suit to farm thulecite n also pan flute at 10%, to make it last indefinitely. I couldnt find anything on weather pain. Weather or not it would work (no pun intended). Some item will return only a portion based on items durability i read on wiki, so i wasn't sure it would work on weather pan. Pan flute, weather pain (gears), n thulecite items hav to b the most valuabe rare resources right. Currently i hav a great world gen wi about 4 moose goose v close to base. One is close to pig farm, 1 close to bunnymen farm + another closeish to bunnymen, + another close to base, + another at pig king, with a close wormhole. I usualy just pick up the loot (down feathers after other mobs kill moose goose etc). Currenly hav over 150 down feathers. I hav played worlds where i searched the whole map n found only 2 moose goose fare from base wi no good worm holes to get to, making down feathers (goose, moslings feathers) very difficult n time consuming to aquire durring spring.

I'm not that sure but I think the update on gunpowder is meant to change how some bosses can die from just 1 stack of gunpowder. If a boss has different phases, maybe 1 stack of gunpowder can only get it to its next phase instead of immediately killing it. Toadstool has 3 phases. Bee Queen has 3 phases. The Fuelweaver has 2 phases. Klaus has 2 lives, with 1 phase each. I think every other boss has just 1 phase.

Aside from the shadow creatures, one of Fuelweaver's abilities is to lock you in place from time to time when you are insane.

Yeah, I have not seen it or experienced it either. It takes awhile for the reset to happen and there isn't anything to do in the gateway area. So I think our natural instinct is to move out of the area long before it explodes.

The bone armor is an armor that completely blocks damage once every 5 seconds. The shadow thurible can be used to control the cave and forest reanimated skeletons.

I think it is well designed for DST. There are a number of things to do which makes it fun to do with other players so you can coordinate as a team with job assignments instead of just bashing it together. At the same time it is not impossible to do it solo.
