This video is so precises and so "on point" that if you follow what he is saying your ball strike becomes solid, the follow thru is [natural and full] and the swing is simplified. This explanation has been a savior for my golf game. I cannot get over how much this has changed my game and I'm 62. Now instead of accepting mediocre golf, I am able to attack the course like a much younger player.

Hi Bertie, In the five years I have been playing golf (18 hc) this the best advice and technique that I have found for making a solid contact. Presetting the hands into the impact position and the hammer analogy makes perfect sense. It makes you clear your hips without much thought as that the only way to get the hands ahead of the club. HC now down to 15.5 in three weeks of following your advice - thank you.

Great video despite the music. This is EXACTLY how I became a good iron player with hands forward at address. I was taught by Lynn Blake who followed The Golfing Machine stuff by Homer. I couldn’t follow the book all that well (crazy over engineered view of the golf swing), but Lynn taught us to “drag the mop” which is similar to what you do with that weight and rope and it really works. I don’t know what this training aid is all about but just guessing it’s similar to the Tour Stricker training aid which taught you to hit down on the ball w hands forward and really works well.
@Dstgolf
@Dstgolf 4 жыл бұрын
Hi there, Thanks for commenting, Yes I'm familiar with Lynn's work, he's a very good instructor. The difference's between the Tour Striker and the DST Compressor are many, but essentially, the concept is not dis-similar. Where the Compressor stands apart from other training clubs is that through the DST Impact Line on the hosel it allows the player to physically see and locate where the handle of the club needs to be at impact while also getting the orientation of the club face square to the target. In addition due to the curvature of the club running down the plane line it means that if the club is swung off plane the player experiences the club wanting to twist over during the swing, which gives instant feedback to the player. Due to the curved shaft it physically forces the player to rotate their hips and torso towards the target in order to swing the handle of the club passed the ball before the club head makes contact with the ball. The Impact Line allows the player to identify the handle position and de-lofted square club face that produces a lag impact. It has been specifically designed to help a golfer synchronise their downswing sequence to reach the forward handle position that produces a lag impact. I hope this helps.

I watched this video and the longer one from DST last week and today on my second trip to the range I was real steady with a 9 iron and hit some nice hybrid18 degree as well. I am very visual and this hinge position of the shoulder and striking the ball before full extension is the real deal. Playing tomorrow at Twin Oaks CC in San Marcos... Cant wait... may have to buy the training club just to pay the guy for the great lesson.

Such basic info and yet I've never heard it before. Go to the driving range. Probably will see every person releasing club before hitting the ball. Choose the red pill.

In your preceding information video: ( If you play golf you need to watch this video) whoever wrote the script contradicted themselves at the end when they agree with Ben Hogan; one of the greatest golfer in the world; writing about the power of his three right hands being unable to overpower his left hand. This is why every good golfer has his left wrist in the supinating position at optimal impact to the ball. The supination of the wrist at impact is extremely dynamic in relationships to the equal pushing/ pulling power of both hands neither of which can be controlled by any great player or any bent shaft. For every reaction there is and equal and yet opposite reaction. For ever weight their are counterweights We use the mass and the weight of our hands placed correctly on the grip of the club in order to counteract the weight created by the moving head of the club. We must use the handle of the club correctly; never rolling it but always swinging it with a lose wristy action back and forth. The rest of our body will automatically figure out what to do and when to turn Not only Ben Hogan; but David Duval knew enough to swing the handle of the club in a whipping motion at the top of their swing that will automatically creat the optimal impact the head of the club to the ball. For my money I simply ´Grip the handle in order to use the handle to crack the ‘whip’ represented by my club head, directly at optimal impact to the ball. The shaft is not leaning at the optimal impact to the ball; but the head of the club is actively lagging behind our hands getting ready to be crack hard at the ball sending it flying straight. As the club head increases momentum it takes over us wrapping our trail arm around our body in a classic finish position. I am not saying your product has no merit. It actually does in a very specific way. I suspect it would be excellent for some players whose hands are too slow ( under 18 miles an hour with a driver) and so the club head does gets ahead of their hands at the optimal impact area to the ball. However when they finally learn to use the power of their own three right hands. They learn to Grip the handle correctly; swing the handle; and at the top of their swing whip the club head to it’s optimal impact to the ball. Now they got something. Cheers

One more time Bertie...I made a PowerPoint picture of your sight line on the club. Then I took it and got my clubs. Unless I am wrong...when I try to eyeball the bottom groove on any of my clubs with a "potential" line on the hosel...my hosel line points more to the left than yours. Am I nuts or what? Do the DST clubs have any difference vs. a standard set of irons? Thanks again. Gerry
@Dstgolf
@Dstgolf 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Gerry, the Impact Line needs to be lasered onto a club incredibly accurately, if it's not positioned on the hosel correctly it's of little to no use and arguably could be detrimental. Essentially it runs as an extension of the leading groove diagonally up the hosel at a very specific angle. It's difficult to know what you mean by your line pointing more left. Are you talking about when the club handle is being pushed forward it points more left or when the handle is in a neutral position the line points more left? It might be simpler to buy a DST CR-10 Wedge or 8 iron, that way we've done the hard work for you. That is until one of the major manufacturers sees the light and starts incorporating the Impact Line into their clubs!

Try pressing them forward at address as a drill and try and return the handle to that position through impact. See how it goes. If is too weird then start with the handle in a more neutral position but focus on achieving the handle position promoted by the Impact Line. I hope this helps.

@Dstgolf
@Dstgolf 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve Typically we see the club path starting to become more neutral, (normally speaking the vast majority of golfers have a path thats more out-to-in). so the path starts to become more in-to-in or even in-to-out. We notice that new users typically develop a more negative (downward) angle of attack, and the path to club face divergence becomes less pronounced, meaning players get less curvature on their shots. In extreme situations, if a player starts to generate a more in-to-out path and they were used to leaving the face open at impact then shanking the ball can be a shot type that some players experience. This shouldn't be seen as a negative merely as a stepping stone on the journey to better ball striking. That's the reason why the DST Impact Line is so helpful, because it allows the player to see and feel what a square but de-lofted club face looks like. Which helps a player to square the face up at impact instead of delivering an open fave and the hosel to the ball. Hope this helps.

Yeah I was thinking that shanks would be more frequent with that shaft position. Is there a training aid for long irons?. I’m assuming this is a mid iron and won’t have same effectiveness on long irons.

Good content just know pressing hands opens the club. Be sure and grip the club correctly and aim the face of the club square to target on the line you want with the hands pressed not just square annormal address. If you don't you will push or slice.hit the ball to the right everytime your hands are leading the club head. Also drop right foot back away from target line 2 to 6 inches and you will never have an outside in slice swing if you swing along the direction of your thighs be cause your shoulders line up on that line also. It will be inside out and adjust club face position at impact till the ball goes where you want it too. Practice practice practice

It goes without saying but, doesn´t the design of the club make it obvious that you should adress the ball with forward lean, especially with short irons?...
@ziggy1ful
@ziggy1ful 4 жыл бұрын
Would have been best if you started the video actually showing the club and its features and made it clear when you were using and when not, I was confused with the pic of the line on the bottom groove? is this what is on the "compressor club" or is this how one should be trying to set up with a normal club? My reaction is that it would cause the opposite of what you are trying to do, wouldnt the mind see that the club head is lagging and make the hands try and square up the club head earlier, given that is the fault they are already performing? My logic says you should be putting the curve the other way so that the only way the player can hit the ball is if their hands are well forward

@eJunkee
@eJunkee 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, he is correct about the shaft lean at impact but the hammer example absolutely does not apply to a golf swing. The shaft lean is a byproduct of proper shoulder, body and hip rotary leading the arm and YOU cannot artificially create the lean. If anything, it will make the impact even worst and you will very likely shank the ball and lose lots of distance. The shoulders, body and hips all have to turn first, followed by arms (all in a split second). 90% of golfers do the opposite. Better to get lessons from a decent instructor.

Stopped watching when he said that forward shaft lean at address is a good thing. First of all, such a move would cause many amateurs to severely close the face due to a bowed left wrist. It's much easier to set the club properly when the hands are even with, or even behind, the ball at address. I'm not discrediting the training aid in this video, it seems like something that could be helpful to many players. But the so-called "biomechanics" described in this video are pretty inaccurate and unsubstantiated
@TheNYgolfer
@TheNYgolfer 8 жыл бұрын
Nicklaus ,Trevino , Player would disagree. Forward shaft lean at address does not mean "bowed left wrist" unless the lean is excessive. With the proper forward lean the left wrist will be flat, which is what you want at impact. Setup hands ahead of the ball is not for everyone but then there is NOTHING in golf that works for everyone. Some prefer a lagging clubhead takeway .For those mid body hands feel more comfortable. Others prefer to take the club away with the left shoulder.For those the hands ahead at setup feels more comfortable, but one thing is certain in all great players, they have a flat left wrist and a bent right (for right handed players) at impact . How they get there differs like their fingerprints but get there they do
