Definitely can't forget that one, seeing that it was the first NBA team licensed game. And because it was a huge graphics upgrade from Double Dribble ( even though DD was the better game to play )

Before Jordan vs Bird, there was One-on-One which featured Dr J vs Bird back in 1983. It featured slam dunks, a referee, three point shots, shattering the backboard, and even instant replays. It was WAY ahead of its time.

The lack of NBA 2K for the Dreamcast is disturbing, especially considering this is supposed to be an evolution of Basketball video games. Don't think you realize how big of a leap those games were.

The other significant game left out, was NCAA Basketball made in 1992, which was only found on the SuperNintendo. The makers of this game didn't waste time designing elaborate stadiums, instead focused on gameplay and a 3D perspective that is now see in all basketball games now. It was EASILY the most realistic basketball game from a game playing standpoint, at that time. Game play was very smooth with realistic and accurate player actions. Speed of the game was almost perfect.

You forgot Hoops(1989 NES), that was an awesome streetball game that really became one of the most fun and played basketball games of its time. Bomber, Jammer, Face, Barbie, Whiz, the characters were great. It had two player versus, one-on-one, two player vs computer, you-vs-computer, you as a team vs computer's team, and around the world. Great game, one of my favorites ever.

One of the more significant games left out in this video was Bulls vs Celtics, the 1989 game by Electronic Arts. It was their first real NBA basketball game. I may be wrong, but I think it wast first basketball game to not only be licensed by the NBA, but also used real player names and numbers, along with keeping extensive stats in season mode. That game was the template that EA used for basketball until they switched to the NBA Live style of gameplay and presentation in 1994.

IIRC, the "X" button on the SNES was to swipe for a steal, the "A" button was for a hand-check, which in reality was more of a shove in this game. Of course you could turn the fouls off and get steals easier with "A".
