DTLRSHP 88 Tesla Model Y Wheel Arch Moulding Trim Removal

Quick video demonstrating the removal of the Tesla Model Y wheel arch trim moulding.
We remove these trims as part of the prep for paint protection film (PPF) install, so that edges can be tucked; less dirt build up, more seamless look, and better protection. We also protect the black trims with BlackWOW Pro to keep them rehydrated and black looking.

Most midsize SUV's have similar molding, be careful not to put too much pressure with Your thumbs, You can actually dent the fender .

Do you know what size those push-in retaining clips are?

I don’t, but Tesla’s share a lot of parts with Toyota. I’d imagine it being the same.

Hey sir. How do you install it back on. I had someone do the ppf but one of the clips is not clipping back in

Should pop right back in, unless the installer broke a tab or lost a clip.

My plastic trim is not sitting flush anyway to fix that ?

There’s no rubber moulding for them to truly sit flush. I’ve worked on maybe 50 model Y’s now and there is no consistency as to how flush those plastic flares sit. 1/16” to 1/8” gap is unfortunately a rather “normal” fitment for Tesla. Their panel gaps are another story. Best you can do probably is to push it in and make sure that the clips are fully engaged. If you’re still within your delivery window of being able to open a ticket; id suggest bringing it up to Tesla.

@@detailership thanks for the reply , actually had a mobile tech come out and he had to remove this trim, the clips seem to be in but it’s just not sitting normal as before, I tried pushing it in as much as possible but it’s still slightly sticking outward

Thats awesome. Putting thumb dents all over your fender. This is why i dont trust people uninstalling/installing shit on my car.
