my look on it is that the past 9 years and even now they are called the best. they win countless trophies and awards but they don't feel like that's what makes them the best. their true love for music and for each other/army is what really keeps them going. don't worry lol! i honestly don't think this is a goodbye song. It feels more like theyre opening a new chapter of music and just everything in general. they're telling us that yeah, their past music and content might be incredible and will always be iconic but its what comes next for them and their music/projects with each other that make them excited about everything. plus, this is an anthology album so its almost looking back on their old stuff and going like, "wow, look what we did and look what we are going to do in the future." just my take on it :) loved the reaction!

At first I was confused and cried as if they were saying goodbye. But then I remember between the Grammys and the concerts when Namjoon said first: That they didn't went to Las Vegas for the Grammys, they went for Army's. Then in the his Vlive he said that he was thinking about wen they were more involve in their music and the making of it. I don't know. It felt like he was feeling like he was loosing their path or their ways. Maybe because of the pressure they felt during this time. I don't know, I think their just recharging all the emotion and energy for better things to come, but staying this time with more control over their artistry.

This song had me balling. I feel like they are closing out their childhood and moving into grown men. I can't wait for their next chapter. It's probably closing all the album that already come out and are linked to each other..and they count it as a chapter in the past and they closing it. now they going to start a new chapter with probably a new linking album, like the new BU. Like chapter 1 is done for 9 years, on the 10th they going for new concepts and all new things and it will become a chapter 2. For me, the song feels like a goodbye and a beginning. Goodbye to their previous chapter. The era where they were trying so hard to prove something and make a mark in the industry. It is also the beginning of a new chapter where they have already made their mark and achieve so many accolades. They are already the best and yet, there is still more to expect from them. the meaning of the song is looking back onto the past and recognising the beautiful moments that they've shared with eachother and army but also recognising that their most beautiful moment hasn't happened yet because there is still so much more to come. they're saying goodbye to the first chapter of their career (9-10 years) and moving into a new era. bighit & the members themselves said this in the comeback announcement & the album notes that this album is to show them moving onto a new chapter of bts which is why it's an anthology that looks back at some of their most iconic & emotional tracks. in the song, they're also reiterating that all the fame & trophies are not what matter to them, it's the art & the fans that matter. they also mention a few times that even though they've achieved a lot, they're still the same/haven't changed from who they originally were. this is because they have the same dreams & the same messages & sentiments and they still love music.🫂💜

I think their actual selves (all in white) are watching their past selves (dressed similarly to past MV) reliving their old MV (Sprng Day, Run, No more dream, etc are referenced throughout). I think the message is we loved our past, we acknowledge it but we have more mountains to conquer, on our own terms and with the intentions we had when we first started (as can be seen with them boarding the yellow bus that figured prominently in their first ever MV). Basically they are saying we are not done, our desire to do music is still as pure as when we were kids. Yeah we accomplished all those great things but we are not finished yet. And I agree with you the song left me with a sense of nostalgia, it may have something to do with their own doubst at what the immediate future holds since their military status is still being discussed.

I agree with everything you are saying. I wanted to also add Jin said in your heart we are still young. Referring to Army’s still see them as young. They are no longer boys they are Men now. Their childhood chapter is over and their new chapter will be them as adults. At the end they are starting from one. I see it as them starting over as adult artists. I noticed a lot of them are getting really good at playing instruments could that be part of their new journey? Jk playing drums, V the sacs, Suga and Jin piano and keyboard, Jimin Guitar while singing. It’s not as hard on their bodies as dancing. It will give them time in between songs to rest a bit. It really is the end, but the end of a stage, of moments that were very good, when they are on the bus in the same position as another MV, they are calm, ready to face the future, because what is to come is better. Of course they will continue to do what they like, sing, dance, enjoy. They will continue to give us incredible moments and many more songs as a group and solo, they have already signed a seven-year contract. It is not the end, it is the beginning of a new stage. The entire video recalls iconic moments from other MVs that were once spectacular.

Firstly I just wanted to say that JKs vocals are amazing and the lyricsare so poetic and beautiful. Secondly the MV itself has this calming effect (which also is emotional to me). I also love how they sing about how much they love music and doing eat they like. It's like they are looking back on the past and looking forward to the best that's "yet to come". Also there are references to past MVs including Springday, BST, no more dream aka the bus. I don't know why but this song is bringing tears to my eyes and I can't help but smile through out the whole thing and them wearing all white it's like they are angels singing to us (which in reality they are). I think they're acknowledging the beautiful moments of the past while realizing that there is still room to move forward and improve. I think in the line "the past was honestly the best," "the best" is being used like slang (oh, that's the best) kind of thing, while in the next line, "but my best is what comes next," they're using "the best" literally. I think "a graduation song" is about right. They're moving forward, into their adult phase. Nostalgia and sweet memories of their past but let's look forward to what comes next. They are always doing their best, so the past "best" is just that - past. Their future "best" is what matters to them now, though they'll never forget what they've gone through. I don't think it's sad at all - it's hopeful, even though they're saying goodbye to an important phase of their lives. We all grow up, grow older, have fond memories. But we can't live in the past. And they've been called "the best" but that implies they've reached their heights - like it's all downhill from here? Nah, their best is yet to come. They aren't at the top, not personally, because then there would be nowhere left for them to go. They've just gotten through the first stage. To me, of course the details in the vid are all throwbacks/reminiscing their past BUT the freaking BUS! I think the bus holds the most significance. Theyre clearly getting back on the bus they first entered as a group back in 'No More Dream' (first song/mv). And perhaps also exiting with the same bus they first appeared in. Exiting to the next chapter except we dont know what that next chapter looks like. They also said "The past was honestly the best. But my best is what comes next": this could also mean literally just a diff chapter in their individual life. Experiences such as marriage, having children, getting old can definitely be what they meant by "My best is what comes next" because marriages and being parents are also some of the most significant moment in individual human existence. Whatever it may be, i fully support them. They deserve it.

Yet to come is from an anthology album reminiscing about the past and how far they have come. Yes, it is nostalgic and about closing an important chapter in their life and starting a new one. The mv is full of references to their past mvs (requisites and clothes) and I am surprised you didn't catch those. Beginning when they are seated is a scene from Just One Day, the exact way they sat in the mv. The white suits remind me of the scene from Life goes on where they sat ln front of the empty concert chairs. RM is in front of the train waggon from Run. It has the exact same number. Jimin is walking towards a pair of shoes - Spring day scene where he holds a pair in his hands. Also V doing the rectangular shape is from Spring Day, but in the mv it was Jin. J-Hope in front of the train? Also reminiscant of Spring day where he sat on top if it. Jin holding his hands in front of V's eyes and the statue of Abraxas - that is Blood Sweat and Tears. Suga on top of the piano - reminder of his highlight reel for First Love. His clothes - War of Hormone but also remind me of Prologue HYYH pt 1, pt 2. The truck is from the BU and also in Epilogue when they are at the seaside plus in Run. Them all running towards the truck is the exact replica of them running on the runway in Young Forever. JK running up the sand hill is him running up the rock in On and when he is swirling around with open eyes - reference to Euphoria. JK's bomber jacket reminds me of Not Today. The yellow bus is a reference to their debut song No more dream. Them sitting in the bus at the end is also a scene from Spring Day. The desert with the waves sounding in the back is a reference to a B-side song called Sea. A hidden gem for many still but it also references sth that was on the banners at an older concert. It is like the desert represents the hardships and trials they went thru but the love and suppirt of ARMY is like an ocean giving life and hope. This mv is filled with amazing treasures. Yes, their past was - looking back - probably the best thing to happen but BTS still have so much to explire, to offer and look forward to. They haven't reached their absolute peak yet so the best moment is still ahead. They came full circle and are ready for a new chapter in their life. Proof and this song specifically do feel like "an end" or "goodbye". If you think about it... military enlistment is due at the end of 2022 if not for all of them (in case they decide to go together), than at least Jin and maybe Suga. So, one way or another it does make sense to have an anthology album. As artists and grown men they are entering a new phase but they know their/our best moment is out there waiting for all of us.

this was like a live version of 'bulletproof: the eternal. their were references to all of their songs. they are telling us that the world dominating fame is not what they were after. they just wanted to be great singers. all the names they are called, idols, icons, phenome, super stars, these words are hard to comprehend for bts because they are still the young boys at heart who just loved music. i loved the last scene sitting on the bus, they are sitting in the same seats and j-hope taps jimin. this was the first scene of 'no more dreams. beautiful memories, we watched bts grow up literally.

DT, I watch this reaction ever & ever again, esp after that last BTS Festa that I hope never happen 😥 I have same feeling as yours when I heard this song for the first time. It's kind a farewell song for me. A few days after their announcement at that festa which broke my heart, I'm still very sad. I know that they deserve to take a break, to reconsider their direction in the future, to develop themselves as an individual & not 'just' as a member of the great group. i actually saw a lot of hope in the song, when i first heard it i felt like it was the most hopeful and joyous thing. it sounds like they are proud of the chapter they've just concluded in their teens and twenties, and embarking on the next chapter in their 30s... but it feels like they're very comfortable in their own skin now, at peace, and having gone full circle, they can just move forward purely with their love with music, without needing to worry about winning or getting noticed.

My take on this MV is that it is a reflection of the years leading to this point in time. Although those years were "the best" they believe that "the best is yet to come". All of theme will have to do their two year military obligation so the seven will not be together like they have been up til now. They have come a LONG WAY since their early days as hiip hop/rappers. They have morphed into something very beautiful in both sound and dance and especially their choreography which I believe is world class. All of them appear to be quite humble even after all their success which I find very refreshing.

For me this song honors their journey when they went down that bus "too cool for school" . But yet it feels like a goodbye when they are all on the bus at the end like they will make a new journey of learning again ( School bus represents learning) but there's a promise of coming back again. The bus is a symbol of travel. Their face expression of sadness especially when Jhope tapped Him in who gets very emotional. the guys were just paying homage to all their eras they've been through during their music career for 9 years , keep in mind that "Proof" album is an anthology of unreleased versions of some of their old songs plus some new ones, btw last night when I saw the premiere of the MV I was emotional but I did it fine until the school bus appears at the end....that school bus where everything start and 7 young humble bangtanies start their journey, right on that my tears start to flow like a river down my face, only a group like BTS make you feel this way, thank you for the reaction DT!

I think it's a lookback to their past before going to a new chapter. Honoring their past music, hardships & dreams when they were young. Acknowledging that they're past was the best and yet there is still a next best that is yet to come. Isn't there a saying, that when you succeed you have to pause and look back at your past, before you can move forward again to achieve more. In the Philippines, we say it as, "ang di lumingon sa pinanggalingan, di makakarating sa paroroonan". And that's exactly what they're doing. They're showing respect to their past music and are ready to move on to achieve more dreams. If you listen to their other new song Run BTS it's saying they're gonna run again meaning they're moving forward, faster than ever before. So haters will just have to run after them.

I think so many of the comments here are correct. This song is a goodbye to the past and a reflection on all they have achieved. I doubt that BTS would ever disband as they enjoy working together and being together so much. But I don't think BTS in its current format is sustainable forever. I mean, looking at the recent release of their old dance practice videos, I don't think they would want to continue in that vein into their 30's. I also think that they are interested in doing more solo work, such as Suga doing That That, Jimin's OST, JK's possible collab with Charlie Puth, and J-Hope headlining at Lollapalooza. And their military service is lurking in the background too. So I think lots of change is afoot and they are looking forward to new challenges ahead!

As many times I’ve watched this video, I cried each time with this morning being the hardest because I’m feeling their hardships/sadness/happiness they faced and all their past memories of songs/videos they did and how far they’ve come. The last part on the bus, Spring Day!! They look so sad in the SD video whereas here they’re happy and smiling that after all these years they’ve endured it all and ready for what’s “Yet To Come.” The past meets the present.
