@@riptidegaming8876 after winning vietnamese independence in 1954, vietnam was promised freedom and elections within 6 months after signing agreement at Geneva. For the next 20 years, US fought to make sure those elections never took place because the vietnamese would have voted for ho chi Minh. We installed a puppet government led by Diem to achieve that goal. South Vietnam was created out of thin air to further that goal.
