Great video, but why is the locking wing bolt touching the ruler itself? Could the design be changed in order to clamp one of the other 3 sides of the wooden ruler bar instead? Otherwise the ruler scale will become unreadable and scratched over time I believe. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏼

I know there are pros and cons to this part. I dared to fasten the screws to the ruler this time, but it doesn't actually make the scale unreadable.

Better to have the screw press against the steel ruler than denting the wood beam. As long as you loosen the screw sufficiently before making adjustments, it shouldn’t scratch the markings on the ruler. Alternatively, a wooden wedge could secure the beam which would not damage the wood or the steel.
