Make sure you've updated windows 10 fully before trying this, or you might get problems. I had disabled windows updates, which caused failure in Rufus4.4.exe. Download was not available from rufus, so maybe Microsoft changed something. I'll keep trying to resolve.

Interesting. This error may occur when hardware is not detected or a corrupt system file blocks the OS from booting up. I would redo the second OS that isn't installing. Thanks,

if i use 2 disks for dual booth w10 and w11 . is it important both disks must be pluged in during instalations to get this dual booth menu?

Of course, the second OS (usually Linux) has to see the current setup to configure the boot menu. Furthermore, to avoid unwanted issues, it's recommended to keep both drives always connected to the system. Now, if you decide to remove the dual boot, in this case, you can disconnect or erase the drive.

Do you want to dual boot or downgrade the os? The hard drive can be secondary not external.

​@@rachitbangwal3761 I get this error when trying to boot from an external hard drive. Hopefully you have found the solution since then. It could be that my/your external hard drive and/or laptop is too old. For me, both devices are about 10 years old. However, I am able to boot windows 10 on 11 which is my primary on the main drive using the VHDX options

Good question, I haven't tried doing that, but typically you would use the Resize-VHD -Path c:\VHDX.vhdx -SizeBytes 30GB command to increase the size of the virtual drive. Use my advise at your own risk. Thanks,

Why would anybody want to have a previous and a current version of Windows simultanioulsy on Your computer? Many people don't wan't (or like) Win11, others prefer to have the newest version of OS, why would You sacrifice some of your PC resources to have something nobody really needs. If You really want to play with dual or multiboot, try a linux distro instead as a secondary OS.

I tought about getting win10 dual boot setup (currently using win11) for only valorant. So that I can fully optimize my windows 10 only for the purpose of Valo, to get the most FPS and least Input lag, etc.. etc.

@@real_emsuma I did exactly this for naraka bladepoint. An update bricked the game on windows 11 for me. Stuttering and freezes it was unplayable. So I dual booted a clean install of windows 10 with just the OS naraka and my mouse software. And what do you know the game works again

My use for dual boot is because of the last time I had it installed and was running games, it would have the tpm stutter that made using win 11 impossible for me. I would like to test it now to make sure it is fine so then I can upgrade without a problem.
