If we are just meeting, my name is Tifanee. In preparation for our early retirement as well as our worldschooling adventure with our daughter, I recently re-acquired my Filipino citizenship making me a dual citizenship of the Philippines and of the United States of America.
As part of my application, I have recently completed and submitted my ROB to report the birth of my daughter who is apparently a dual citizen by birth.
I will be sharing the requirements to ensure that your ROB (Report of Birth) application is complete as well as share my experience how I recently did mine.

Hi,I have a question po. Is your child who was born in the US follow the Philippine naming convention? We also applied for ROB for my son who was born in the US and we didnt have the PH naming conviction in his birth certificate. The Ph consulate wanted to change his middle name and put my maiden last name. My husband and I are worried that our son will have a problem in the future because his name on the birth certificate will be different from the ROB. Pag approved na sa Philippines consular kailangan agad na mag kuha na dual citizenship sa anak ko or ok lang kahit malaki na siya kunan ko para deretso na 10 years valid at ano middle name ginamit mo sa anak mo mam na nag report of birth kasi sa akin sa us nilagay ko tapos sinulat na Philippines consular Ang middle name ay Nan doon sa first name

Hello! Good question, I have been actually reading more about CRBA because we are moving to South Africa so just in case we have our second one there :) So yes, they are the same. It depends where your little one is born. If born in the US then your wife needs to submit your child’s ROB to Philippine consulate general that has jurisdiction of where you live or where your child was born. If born in the Philippines however, you the American citizen will need to submit the CRBA to the US embassy. I hope this helps :) Thank you for watching!

Hello Ariane, if ROB lang gagawin mo, you can actually send all the documents via mail. May bag sabi isang viewer na pwede na daw walk-in but please I recommend you check the website nung consulate sa area mo and also try to email them kasi they are responsive din naman ☺️

When you did this process, Did you have all the documents the first try or did you have to go back to get more? if so, curious which ones they ask for specifically in person. As I am hoping I just need my US ID and US birth certificate that shows one of my parents were born in the Philippines. I dont have any other document

Hello! I processed her ROB last year- Aug 2021. I had all the documents they asked for so I didn’t have to go back. The requirements they listed online (consulate website) or the ones I mentioned here in my video are the only ones they asked for. After seeing all the original documents they returned them to me immediately and just kept the copies. I would recommend you email them to ask you question to make sure you get the right answers especially with documents. They ate pretty responsive ☺️

Hello! Thank you for watching 🥰. Yes, you will still need the self addressed stamped return envelope. The good thing about applying in person is that I got to bring home all original documents with me. And then I think it took 6-8 weeks for my daughter’s ROB documents/ certificate to arrive via mail. Hello, thank you for watching and for your comment. I had to open a FedEx acoount (I am not sure if it is required) but they asked me to provide an account number so that once it is sent to me I can get charged after. I wanted the standard international one but apparently in my area they only do the priority international so I think it cost me $60-70.

Mam, I just have a question if the child's full name already has the mother's last name as part of the name on the US birth certificate. example the mother's surname is Cruz, so the child's name is martina Cruz Barba. when reporting the birth to the embassy. on the ROB form what should be put on the Child's first name? MARTINA CRUZ or MARTINA only? kase if magiging first name niya is MARTINA CRUZ, tapos kailangan ko din maglagay doon sa middle name which is CRUZ, it's like ang magiging pangalan niya sa Philippine birt cert ay MARTINA CRUZ CRUZ BARBA

Good question. So for this one we follow the Filipino naming conventions. First name Martina Middle Name Cruz Last name Barba so okay na name nya since it’s already following the naming conventions na kasama ung maiden name na Cruz. Example sa akin is let’s say my daughter’s name is Tifanee Michelle Lin (I did not include my maiden name sa US birth cert nya kasi) So when I applied her First name was -Tifanee Michelle Middle name: i had to write my maiden name (kahit wala naman sa US passport nya or birth cert nya) Then last name Lin. Thank you for watching. After I submitted her ROB application and documents, I think approximately after 6 weeks, I received the official/ original document of her ROB. The next step for me would be waiting for at least 6 months after that to finally request PSA for my daughter’s authenticated birth certificate. I am assuming it will look like our PSA marriage certificate, it was basically our US marriage certificate scanned on an official PSA paper. Or by just using her original stamped ROB documents, I can use that to apply for her Philippine passport, which will need her to make an appearance. ROB alone should not need any appearance since it was in their website we can just send our application via mail. I hope this helps 💓

Hello Bruce, congratulations on your little guy turning 20-month old. :) so for your case, this video would not be applicable. Since your son was born in the Philippines to a Filipina mom he is automatically a Filipino citizen now, because your son has you who is an American citizen that makes him dual by birth but you have to report his birth to the US embassy in the Philippines. I did some reading so it’s called CRBA (Consular Report of Birth Abroad). If you guys are still in the Philippines I recommend you visit the US Embassy of the Philippines website under “Passport and Family Matters” there is a detailed instruction for you to take. Hope all is well :)

Hello Cris! Congratulations on your citizenship! since you were still a Filipino citizen when she was born, you need to do an ROB on her only. You don’t need to add her as a derivative sa own application form mo for your dual citizenship. And yes kung they allow walk-in if they allow you too for ROB, that’s what I did, I submitted her ROB after I took care of my dual citizenship submission habang nag aantay ng oath taking :)

Hello Mabelle :) thank you for watching! My Philippine passport was also expired at the time of my ROB submission. We just need more proof that we were Filipino citizens at the tike our our child’s birth aside from our birth certificate. As for the passport naman, since our daughter is only 4 ung passport nya ung isa sa valid ID nya kasi. Eto nakalagay sa SF PCG 7. Identification Document of the subject (person to be registered). Ex: US passport, Driver’s License, School ID, etc. :)

Hello :) thanks for watching. Yes, they handed all the original documents back to me including passports since I submitted my daughter’s ROB in person. It was very fast, they just checked that all pages were filled out. I signed the application form in front of the consular officer and she checked the originals and gave it back. 😊

Hello :) sorry super late reply na. Were you able to process this na ba? If hindi pa, let me answer your question. So after dumating ung ROB certificate ng anak mo, you can wait for at least 6 months muna before you can apply sa PSA ng Philippine Birth Certificate nya. Once they mail back the ROB original documents kasama dun nasa pinakaharap ng form ung instruction on how to apply for the PSA birth certificate na kelangan mo to apply for your child’s Philippine passport. :) i hope this helps.

Hello :) thank you for watching my video. I just googled it since I am not familiar with this. Our daughter has her US passport and the instruction is to write mom/ dad’s name tapos you write (mother/ father) as for the Philippines, this is from the Office of the Consular Affairs website: For applicants 13 years old and above, immediately affix the signature on the third page of the passport booklet upon receipt of the passport. For minors 12 years old and below, leave it blank.

Thank you for watching 💓. When it was approved the sent the original ROB form that was stamped “Original copy” and then they had a small piece of paper with instructions when to apply for the PSA birth certificate. If I remember it correctly, I think I had to wait for 6 months before I can order/ request for my daughter’s PSA birth certificate. It’s just the time they need so she can be put in the system once her ROB has been approved. I hope this helps 💓

Hello Addy, thank you for watching, kung may US middle name anak mo let’s say Marie Claire pag fill-out mo ng form under yan sa First name tapos ung Middle name (kahit wala sa US birth certificate ng anak mo, ung maiden name mo padin gamitin mo. Yan din issue ko nung una kasi di ko sinama maiden name ko but when I emailed them yan sagot ng consulate sa akin. We have to follow the naming system ng Pinas na yung middle name is Maiden name talaga natin :) Good luck sa application ☺️

Hello kabayan, yes you can apply for the passport nung anak mo if you want once na bigay na nila via mail ung certified copy ng ROB mo. It took about 6 -8 weeks ata bago ko nakuha ung certified ROB. Then u can use that to request for your child’s PSA authenticated birth certificate online (after 6months) tapos once nakuha mo na birth certificate nya u can apply for the passport after that :) tama ba nasagot ko question mo? :)

Hello po tita, were you or you husband or both of you still a Filipino citizen/s at the time of you daughter’s birth? I think people over 18 years old has a different application process po tita since she will have to apply for herself na. Please have her check the PCG website po to be sure. :)

Thank you for watching :) With regards to your travel insurance question I am not sure about that. Oo ung dual certificate ng anak mo is ung form na collated tapos ung stamped na pinadala nila sayo after 6 weeks of your application na may nakalagay “original form/document”. So pag travel mo dalhin mo lang yun together with the US passport ng anak mo. :) You can also use that to apply for his Philippine passport if you want. Yung sinasabi nilang u need to wait for 6 months, that’s for the PSA authenticated birth certificate ng anak mo :) I hope this helps. 💓

Hello kabayan, I am not sure about this. We submit the ROB in the nearest Philippine embassy/ consulate. Since you will be in the Philippines, there won’t be one there. I an assuming you would have to submit it sa nearby country maybe? Hello, I would recommend getting your PSA certificate. I think after 6 months of receiving your certified ROB documents, you can finally request for your birth certificate from the PSA. We are currently in the Philippines and I used the ROB document to present to the immigration officer together with her US passport, what did not make sense is that the officer said my daughter will inly be allowed. 1 year stay since she is traveling with me who is a dual citizen. When she is also a dual citizen herself. That ROB should be enough proof that she is dual Filipino- American by birth but I guess I was wrong. So I requested her PSA as well. :)

Hi Steffani, I am a filipina and I have a 6 yr old daughter whose father is an American Citizen, we are not married yet and he wanted to process our daughter's US Citizenship at US Embassy here in the Philippines, I know that we have to file for CRBA Application, but someone told me that after she become a US Citizen I have to file for her Recognition as a filipino citizen too for her to become a dual citizenship.

Hello, this is a good question. Since we are moving to South Africa, that is what I am also looking into how to file for CRBA sa US embassy ( in case lang for baby #2 😂). But anyway, in your case your daughter is already a Filipina citizen by birth and ung CRBA parang report of birth natin sa Pinas so you are claiming her citizenship as American also. I am not familiar with the recognition part as a Filipino citizen though. Maybe check the website ng US embassy about that? Good luck kabayan ☺️

Hello Kabayan, I am not sure if pwede yun. If kasal kayo he can stay longer in the Philippines (max of one year) and if he wants to stay longer he can apply for residency ata but not for dual citizenship. I would recommend you email the Philippine consulates directly regarding this.

In your case, I think it would not fall under ROB but for actual dual citizenship application? :) Since there’s proof that your parents were Filipino citizens by birth. I recommend you email the Philippine consulate that has the jurisdiction over where you live so you can ask them this question and get the right answers? 🙏 If you do, please tell me so I can help others too. Hello, that’s for watching. This was back in 2021 so please check the consulate website ulit ha. But yes, back then if you are sending your application by mail then you need all 5 of them to be notarized. In my case, I emailed them ahead of time and they said if I am submitting in person then I dont need it notarized since the consular officer serves as my witness. Have you looked in to Wells Fargo or other banks to have your documents notarized for free? Wells Fargo notarized all my documents not just for ROB but all documents in the past. You don’t need to have an account with them to get notarization done. I have always had good experience with Wells Fargo. So maybe check if they still offer that service so you can save.

Thank you for watching :) So dumating na ba yung paperwork nya that says “original report of birth?” Na mail na ba sa inyo? You can travel with his US passport and just bring that form with you. Sabi sa Consulate di naman kelangan mag apply ng Filipino passport basta dala mo lang ung certificate nya. That’s his proof na dual citizen sya. Pero if you want to apply for a Philippine passport for him you can schedule an appointment with the embassy / consulate also for that one :) i hope this helps.

I and my 3 children are planning to go the Philippines in June this year and stay there for 6 months. I want to re-acquire my Filipino citizenship before we go back. Hello :) You will have to add her as a derivative in your application. The moment you/her became naturalizer sa US we lose our citizenship sa Pinas so she will also need to reacquire her citizenship again. This is from the PCG ng SF website. :) “Applicants are asked to surrender their existing Philippine passports (if still valid) and are advised to apply for a new one only after taking their Oath as a dual citizen and not earlier. The latest Philippine passport has been rendered null and void the moment you were naturalized as a U.S. citizen.” I hope this helps. And have the best time sa Philippines 💓

Hello! Thanks for watching :), so nung pinanganak ka both or either of your mama/ papa Filipino citizens pa? If that’s the case all you need to do is submit your ROB (report of birth). With regards to kung saan mo ipapadala I am not sure but I read you can mail it to the Philippine Embassy/ Consulate that has the jurisdiction kung san ka nakatira so maybe research anong malapit na Philippine Consulate sa Pinas? Then check their website for ROB? Sa US, you only need to mail the ROB or, in our case since nandun na ako for another appointment, I submitted it personally. So baka kelangan mo lang i mail and madali lang requirements. Good luck sa application!

For example sa case ng anak namin. i report her birth last year August, tapos after 6-8 weeks ata na receive ko ung “original” ROB forms nya. So all I need to do is wait for 6 months before I can request/ order for her PSA authenticated birth certificate. So kung may ganyan ka na then dual ka na. :)

Hello sis, thank you for watching sorry na late reply ko. Yung gusto mo lang naman is kayo lang ng asawa mo ung mag apply for dual citizenship right? If kayo lang mag asawa, you don’t need to do the ROB Pero if you are planning to apply for dual citizenship for your kids too, then you will need to do the ROB kasi yan yung kelangan mo to request for their Philippine birth certificate in the future. ROB is applicable if ikaw or your hubby or both kayo Filipino citizens padin nung pinanganak sila, if for example US citizens na kayo both nung pinanganak sila, then ROB is not applicable pero what you can do is add them sa application nyo mag asawa for dual citizenship under derivatives/ dependents nyo. :) I hope this helps sis and also email mo din yung consulate para sigurado ha. 💓

Hello really good question. Dito din ako na stress kasi American style ang name ng anak namin. She does not have my maiden name and I wanted it to stay that way “sana” 😫. I emailed the consulate about this pero unfortunately we had to really follow the Philippine naming system which is her first name, my maiden name at ung last name ng asawa ko. So ang ngyari ung American middle name nya naging (second first name) tuloy hehe. And then under sa “other names” nya dun ko nilagay ung totoong name nya talaga sa birth certificate nya. We are outside of the country kaya wala ako access sa forms pero if I remember it correctly (not sure) sa certificate nya, may also known as sya doon. The consulate officer said di nya naman kealngab ng Phil passport if she already has her US passport so yan muna gamit namin for now since ayaw ko mag travel na tag dalawa kaming passport each pero I am considering it. So that part di ko pa alam if ang passport nya for Philippines mag kakaroon ng “also known us” to reflect her original name. Sana makatulong ito 💓

Actually! Mukhang tama ka at ata kabayan. I am getting things mixed up. Yung sa dual citizenship document ko may nakalagay “also known as” pero I think yung pinadala na original documents na stamped for my daughter’s Report of Birth parang wala ata “aka”. So I am not sure about the Phil passport kabayan hehehe So ung report of birth nya after mo ma receive yun, PSA is asking to wait at least 6months before you can request a PSA authenticated birth certificate. Pero if you plan to apply for a passport you can use the original ROB forms to apply if wala pa syang PSA birth certificate :)

Thank you for watching :) As far as the marriage certificate, when I emailed them about it last year prior to requesting a PSA copy of our marriage certificate, the person who responded said foreign one is acceptable. When I submitted mine in person I emailed them ahead of time maybe try to do it to give them a heads up? Pero also try you luck kasi there were people during my dual citizenship application who applied for their passports without appointments nakiusap lang sila. They were accommodating that time nung di sila busy. Aa far as passport- is it the Filipino passport that is expired? mine is expired as well too but you have to present a valid passport of your and hubby in my case I had my expired Filipino passport to show proof I used to be Filipino and then I had my valid US passport pati with my husband’s also :) i hope this helps! ☺️

I would still recommend for you to email the consulate para sure ka pero since yung anak mo is already an American citizen by birth tapos dahil Filipino citizen ka pa din nung pinanganak sya then dual by birth talaga sya. I think pag naging US citizen ka dahil ikaw lang naman yun di maaapektuhan yung sa kanya. ito ngyari sa akin. So nung pinanganak ko sya months after nun naging US citizen na ako pero that time di ko pa kasi alam itong ROB na ito. If you are traveling in 2 months, maybe do it once you come back? It took 8 weeks for us to receive her report of birth documents. Since I applied in person, I didn’t have to leave any original documents there. I just showed it to them and then I took all original documents home with me. I applied for my dual citizenship in person that is why they allowed me to do my ROB there :)

Nice video! very informative! I have a question when I apply for my dual citizenship, do I also need to apply for my child who is a US citizen because we are planning to go to the Philippines? And what is the right form for the child's dual citizenship?

Hello! Thank you for watching. When your child was born were you or your spouse still a Filipino citizen at the time of his/ her birth? If yes then you just need to do a Report of Birth. But if neither one of you were Filipino citizens that time, then you can apply for dual citizenship and include your child in the same form as your “derivative” :) I hope this answers you question. ☺️

Hello po ma’am Mariel, Sorry for my delayed response. No you don’t have to be married po to do an ROB. If you go to the Philippine consulate website ng SF ( I like their website because it’s updated and in my opinion very user friendly 😁) you can see different requirements there for different cases like if parents are married, parents are not yet married, parents are separated, they give you a different/ additional list of requirements based on your case :) I hope this helps. ☺️

Hello po, yes nakuha ko na po ROB, but for the phil passport iaapply ko palang si baby next month. Base nman sa nakalagay sa ROB you can use that to apply for new passport ni baby. Ang ginawa ko now, inuna ko yung PSA/birth cert nya na maprocess. Aun po :) @@abigailledesema9309

We just did our ROB and they made us change his name to follow philippine naming conventions. We did not want to have his name changed but they said they would not submit the application if we didn't. Our son was not born in philippines and already has a legal name and is whats listed on his birth certificate. I feel this is so wrong that they are forcing us to use a name that is not his legal name at birth and will now have different ID's that will have complications of different legal names. They should not be forcing people to alter legal names when they are born outside the phillippines and already have a given legal name where philippine naming convention does not apply.

Pero if Filipino citizen ka pa nung pinanganak yung baby mo then all you are doing is really reporting their birth. I think you can. 🙏

@@neilflores217 hello po, you mean US citizen kayo nung pinanganak nyo sya sa Philippines po? If that’s the case you have to do a CRBA po. It’s the opposite basically, you need to report to the US consulate or embassy yung birth ng anak nyo so he can claim his right to citizenship.

@@neilflores217 I am not sure po since it’s a different topic from this video. I recommend po for you to check the US embassy/ consulate website for CRBA po para sigurado. Feeling ko okay pa po yun kasi di panaman sya 18 pero check nyo po agad para maayos na at ma claim nya US citizenship nya
