Well done, I enjoyed your presentation. I have the same deck and it has not been used for years so I anticipate that it may well need new belts. My late father left a huge collection of LP's, many more than I have, so I have another retirement project. The speed check was quite novel too.

Thanks for the feedback! I too have been sorting through my collection of (mainly 80's) LP's, though it sounds like you've got a bigger task on your hands .... Cheers, Chris

Something I ran into, which I'm sharing here for the record (haha): While replacing the main belt, the white plastic part with the two teeth was pointed downward. I thought it somehow ended up in a wrong position, and gently forced it back up, to how it looks in the video. Turns out that part pushes the belt up or down to a different part of the shaft, based on the rpm speed. So, if you find it difficult to put the belt on because the white plastic thing is in the way, select 33 rpm. It will point straight, and it will be much easier to get the belt in between the two teeth.

I’ve got one of these decks. About 45 years old now & stored in the loft. Sadly the lid broke over 30 years ago where it attaches to the hinges. 😢

That's a bummer! I gave mine a clonk when I was taking it off... 😅 I managed to sell it for just under £140 in the end, so if you could lay your hands on a spare lid it might be worth your while. Cheers, Chris

Hello, l have problem with annoying subtle feedback from right channel of CS 505-4. Suspect its the grounding issue. More prominent on riggt channel. Any idea?
@handyman-at-home6 ай бұрын
Hi, Not sure I can really help. The only issue I experienced when testing the turntable before selling it was that I got a large ground hum at one point. I tracked this down to a bad connection in the RCA connector from the turntable to the pre-amp.

The small drive belt (speed control should be a toothed belt)
@handyman-at-home11 күн бұрын
Yes, the original Dual speed control belt is a toothed version, but they are harder to source and much more expensive these days, so that's why the video is about using the alternate (non-toothed) solution from Malvern Hills Audio. Seemed to work pretty well. Cheers, Chris

that belt is not the official belt is it? it looks too wide
@handyman-at-home7 ай бұрын
Hi, It wasn't an official DUAL belt, though you'd probably need a second mortgage to get one of those ..... I'd guess it might have been about 0.5mm wider than the one I took off, but that had certainly stretched over the 30+ years of its life so who knows what the original width was. The one I fitted didn't seem too wide to me and certainly worked fine as far as I could tell. Cheers, Chris
