Thanks so much for your great detailed review, it answered a lot of questions websites weren't making clear.👍 And thanks for mentioning about buying direct from the manufacture, I wouldn't of thought they'd have any saving deals at all. I saw the deal you mentioned on this one and then found to my surprise I could upgrade for free to the HL5 for the same price. I'm shocked they would offer such a huge discount. It has a few different small features... probably not worth paying that much extra for, which might be why they are lowering the price for a short while. I just ordered in time, as the offer ends midnight tomorrow. Sorry to hear you missed out on the discount.😕That's what usually happens to me. I'm looking forward to delivery day!

I think the coat was so thin it cracked you suppose to put at least 2mm thick 1st coat and 1mm 2nd coat looking at that it's wafer thin coat. Just my opinion.
@handyman-at-home
@handyman-at-home 17 күн бұрын
Hi, Thanks for the feedback. I agree to some extent with what you say, in that the thicker you apply this stuff, the better. However, it does claim to be one coat… The usage instructions say ‘Apply by brush in one coat at a rate of 1-2 litres per square metre’ which gives you a thickness of 1 to 2mm if my maths is correct. I definitely applied it thickly over the two rows of staples initially, but it’s fair to say that when I used up the remainder of the tin on the larger area, it wasn’t as thick. However, it was certainly thicker than is now apparent after 6 months, which leads me to believe it does shrink slightly over time / as it dries out. The usage instructions go on to say ‘In extreme cases, a second coat may be applied 2-3 days after initial application.’ I’d probably take the view that, like you, a second coat is required in ALL circumstances. Having used it for two or three different jobs, I'd say... - Easy and quick to apply - Can be used on wet surfaces - Good for emergency or short-term repairs - Really needs two coats to be properly effective - Still working after 6 months (on a poor quality felt) - Don't expect it to last more than a year at most - Only as good as the underlying surface - can start to peel off Cheers, Chris

Something I ran into, which I'm sharing here for the record (haha): While replacing the main belt, the white plastic part with the two teeth was pointed downward. I thought it somehow ended up in a wrong position, and gently forced it back up, to how it looks in the video. Turns out that part pushes the belt up or down to a different part of the shaft, based on the rpm speed. So, if you find it difficult to put the belt on because the white plastic thing is in the way, select 33 rpm. It will point straight, and it will be much easier to get the belt in between the two teeth.

I had the Bosch equivalent and if you think you are using blades quickly, the Bosch Durablade ones were dreadful. The Einhell ones wear away (or fly off) when hitting hard surfaces, but the Bosch ones actually snapped. You could get through a couple in 5 minutes unless you were careful, and at about £0.70 each(!), it was ridiculous. Never used it again and recycled it.
@handyman-at-home
@handyman-at-home 26 күн бұрын
Wow - they're expensive! The Einhell ones are definitely more cost-effective than the cheapo ones I tried - they last longer, and as such they don't need changing as frequently, so less time spent faffing about instead of strimming. The cheapo Amazon ones I got have similarly been sent to recycling...

I have to say, what a top review. You mention the cheaper versions on Amazon which I bought one, but the reviews didn't go into half as much detail as you have just done. Looking at your review, I won't be purchasing one, not because of your review, but my ears are quite low and I have "no neck" so looking at it, I will have the same problem with the speakers not covering my ears as I have with cheaper models. Well next up is look for a review on the sleep masks as they look like they cover all the ear. Once again.... Top Review. Thank you for your time

Great video and explanation. I got my new Hoover Pet HL4 today from amazon at the £139 price - free delivery and free return. I will not be sending it back as I am very pleased with it's performance. It sucked up 3 fills of dust from downstairs; carpet, deep pile rug, thinner carpet on minimum suction, hard floor (and even beside the loo!) I feel ashamed at how poorly my previous cylinder machine must have been performing so it was definitely time to upgrade. After consideration and checking out Which recommendations this was one of theirs for upright machines. I hadn't considered buying direct from Hoover and might have been attracted to the car kit, however I'm sure I can do whatever cleaning I need to with the crevice attachment. I did pick up a couple of hints about use so thank you

So after a year of use how does the strimmer perform now? Do the plastic cutters last or are you replacing them often.
@handyman-at-home
@handyman-at-home Ай бұрын
Hi, Still works very well. Doesn't get a huge amount of use as I only have a small to medium sized garden and tend to strim every second week during the season (April to Sept approx.). I made the mistake of buying cheap unbranded blades on Amazon when my initial batch of Einhell blades had been used up. Major error - total rubbish. Very stiff plastic, hard to fit on, and very prone to snapping at the faintest hint of hitting something hard!! Went back to Einhell branded blades and they're much better - more flexible, easier to fit, and last longer. You get what you pay for it seems. For me, the biggest advantage is that if a blade does need replacing, it's only a 30 second job, whereas when I had a line snap on my old Bosch strimmer, it was a right faff to get it re-threaded and set to the right length. Cheers, Chris

Good video Chris, easy to follow and not full of technical jargon. I did similar research when looking to get my system installed. The one other bit of advice I would add is to look in your own neighbourhood at who else has solar, is their property in a similar orientation and consider knocking on their door to see how they're getting on. I did just that and to my surprise the chap was super friendly, and gave me a spreadsheet of his data for the last several years.

Thanks! Totally agree with the 'speak with your neighbour' approach ... My experience has also been that most people with solar are enthusiastic to share their experience and knowledge, though no-one offered me a spreadsheet... 🤣 Have probably given 5 or 6 tours of our setup in the last few months, but so far only one person has had solar installed (that I know of). Must try harder 😂. Cheers, Chris

Hiya, Amazing video with a lot of information. Thank you. I have a coated fibre glass flat roof which hasn't been maintained for about 20 years. It's not leaking but I want to restore it to prolong it's life. I am getting conflicting info from companies. Some say use acropol some say don't, some say cromopol and acropol would peel off after a couple of years because of the old previous coating on it etc. I am so confused. Can you help please? Thnx
@handyman-at-home
@handyman-at-home Ай бұрын
Hi, Thanks for the feedback 👍 I'm not an expert, and have never used any of these type of resin-based fibre-reinforced roof coatings on anything apart from felt roofs, however I can't see that you would do any harm by applying them to a fibreglass roof. If I was doing it, I'd try to make sure that any loose dust and debris was thoroughly brushed off the surface first, and then apply it on a dry day. I know they say they can be applied in damp conditions but .... If you're just doing relatively small patches, you could also try roughening up the existing surface with some coarse sandpaper, to give it a better chance of sticking, but if you're doing a large area then that would be a lot of hard work! Can't say how long it would last. Cheers, Chris

If i by passed the switches and turned the mower on and it still doesn't run - would that be a correct method to remove the switch being at fault?
@handyman-at-home
@handyman-at-home Ай бұрын
It's a bit difficult to say, but if the motor runs OK, then it could point to the switch being at fault. Other causes might be a break in the cable (either before or after the switch), or the thermal cutout having failed completely. The usual caution about mucking about with electricity applies !! Good luck! Cheers, Chris

I have 3 US2000 batteries and want more capacity. Can I connect bigger batteries ie US3000 or US5000 without it causing problems, or should I stick to buying more US2000s?
@handyman-at-home
@handyman-at-home 2 ай бұрын
Yes, you should be able to connect additional US3000C or US5000 into your existing battery setup. You need to make the newer battery/ies the master - take a look at the installation manual, section 3 - you can download a copy from this website (UK based retailer that I have purchased from) www.itstechnologies.shop/products/pylontech-us5000-4-8kwh-95-d-o-d-battery-storage I don't know how old your US2000s are, but if they are more than 5 or so years old I'd personally think in terms of trying to sell them on and replacing with new, but there's nothing stopping you adding new batteries to them.

Yep. There's definitely an issue with Bosch mowers in particular - I think the newer models are regularly only lasting 2 to 3 years ... plenty of videos on KZbin to that effect. They've likely cut back the design from what it used to be (I worked for Bosch in Germany in the late '80s and they were a proper German engineering company back then) and then subbed it all out to China for manufacturing ... Seems to be a common occurrence in other products too ... we recently had a Vax vacuum cleaner motor burn out after only 3 years use ... and I don't have a large castle to hoover 🤣 Cheers, Chris

Massive thank you for the clear video! I needed to replace just the sink waste, so I purchased the one you linked, it looked exactly the same, but it wasn't exactly the same, BUT I managed to make it work: The metal basket's rim was a tad too large to sit flush in the dip, so I reused the old one, trimming the white seal to size and using the new screw. The overflow thingy ( didn't catch the name) didn't come off as it has been glued with some tough sealant. I did replace the overflow pipe itself with the new one. The sink waste was shorter than the old one, and I thought it was going to be a nightmare to screw it back in place, but it wasn't at all as the pipes have an OK play to adjust to the difference. Now everything is working just fine with zero leaking. Thank you so so much, I have learned something very handy. The only downside is that it is a stinky job 😂
