I think this explains an issue I used to have with my AR-15 in 300 Blackout. I use one of the JP Silent Buffer options in it, and I had that turned all the way down in terms on spring and weight, and I couldn't get subsonic rounds to lock the bolt back on empty. Just the tiniest bit too little push on it. I solved the problem by drilling the gas port a little larger. But I bet the actual, original issue, was that I was using a dual-ejector bolt and I didn't think of checking with a single-ejector bolt. The gun works great as-is, after the work I did on it, but now I think maybe I should test a part-for-part duplicate except for the bolt. I wonder if that would make the difference so I don't have to use a drill on the barrel. I've never been comfortable with drilling on there, since the chance of raising a spur into the inside always exists. And that's not easy to fix (so far as I know).

@misterdeedeedeeАй бұрын
I feel like on a dual ejector, if one ejector fails for whatever reason you're still going to have ejection issues or failures since the ejectors are not 90° across from the extractor so it's going to be pushing that brass either more upwards or downwards at the edges of the ejection port rather than the center. however I would hope something like that was taken into consideration and the specific offsets they picked for the dual ejectors would mitigate that.

Seems like regular maintenance and inspection makes the need for dual ejectors a non issue. Somewhat unrelated issue, I have an Alexander Arms 50 beowulf that has an extraordinarily hard time feeding. More often than not, when I load up a 7 round magazine, I'll get a round stuck at the edge of the chamber after firing about 2-3 rounds. I've tried bending the feed lips on my magazines so that the rounds are at a bit of a higher angle to prevent this, but keep running into the same issue with all ammo with the exception hard cast bullets. All of my underwood ammo misfeeds and gets stuck right at the chamber. (Which, as you can imagine, is an expensive issue when you have hundreds of rounds of the stuff). I had feeding and extraction issues with the gun before this that were unrelated that I managed to fix with different buffer weights, magazines and went through two brand new bolts straight from the manufacturer. I love this gun and I don't want to give up on it, but man, you can only spend so much money trying to fix an issue you weren't aware was common until after buying the rifle.

@@Animo2006 correct. If it does then you have a gas or bolt carrier problem not a feeding issue
@Animo2006Ай бұрын
@@rmblwgn I don't think that's the issue. As I stated, I replaced the bolt multiple times. I also swapped the buffer weights multiple times as well to fix an ejection issue. It hand loads fine, UNTIL you get to halfway or so through a magazine, when there is less spring tension on the rounds in the magazine so the rounds aren't angled upwards as aggressively. I've tried many different magazines and they all suffer from the same issue. I'm most suspect of the feed ramp being the issue.

I don’t know if that is the best gunsmithing advise but found it works, mainly needed in my case on .the 308 end of things. It is a little tedious and may advise having a few extra coil pins for the ejectors since you may have to to disassemble/reassemble a few times to determine how many coils need to be removed. Main reminder, Don’t trim more than 1 or2 coil s per adjustment attempt and also trim the equal amounts needed on each spring not one having been trimmed more than the other. Again baby steps, don’t just start cutting numerous off per cut. Worked for me, may or may not for everyone else.
