Your not worried about inducing stress cracks into the pump mounting plate, by your screwdriver and hammer method, that vibration later might induce a failure?

Do the larger hose clamps go around both pumps together? That would explain the added length.

Where did the dual pump kit come from? What is the make and model of the pumps?
