I get such a kick out of you. I have been an auto/truck Mechanic since the mid 60s. Retired in 2015 I learned a no crank could often be overcome by a rock or a hammer with a direct strike on the starter. After that don't shut her down till you get to the garage. Vice grips a hammer a pry bar will get er done. Just don't forget to bring your roadside toolkit because you never know. Good luck. I enjoy your sharing with us.

Negotiation.... and that is why we are looking at DYNON. It was just the way that the Sales Guy looked as he was approached. It felt like he was an Apple Genius Bar dude. Apple/Garmin... Great stuff, just got that market leader, attitude. I had a meeting with the Dynon Sales guy the other day. It was a much more interesting demonstration.

I know we are shopping, planning, saving and your video was RIGHT ON TRACK. You did the Garmin G5 team a big favor. The new 'round Garmin something 275s, really are drawing my attention away from the G5s. I remember when the G5s where the hot Young Thing... Now the younger cousin, 'Garmin275' showed up with her cool, round, curves... Well, you get the point i am sure. I loved watching the cheaper jets video. Who doesn't want a Lear 35 to wake the neighbors up with? Oh, so we are clear, if the opportunity presents itself, EVER, I am buying 4 of the Lear 35s... G,day Jimmy's World from Quarantine house lockdown Sydney Australia. * The decals are looking great. I especially like the wing tips. Avionics * The approach fast stack is convenient and cost saving. That is really something to check on purchasing a plane. However were to mount the pin box/unit behind the panel for easy assess. * Like the LED Nav lighting. Even VFR (10mins sun up/down) much better than the globes for visability. * The G5 has so many features, and will make flying more enjoyable. * I'd still like some de-icing system! Looks like on power up they have the HSI power wired wrong, it should come on with the aircraft master like the AH did, not the avionics master.

Not according to the installation instructions. The HSI is on the avionics bus and the AH is on the battery. I double checked that one.

@@therealjimmysworld I'll look at my drawings again also, I guess if you lose avionics power there will not be any Nav data to display anyway. Although heading is still needed but if the GMU 11 isn't powered by the backup battery you will lose it as well. Nice upgrade.

So, since you bought this stuff just a couple of weeks ago, can I ask you why you went with the G5s instead of the much more capable, albeit more expensive, GI-275s? I would have thought that touch screen, SVT, and the other features would have made it a 'no-brainer.'

Thanks for the comment. The weight was pretty close to a wash. The vacuum system wasn't all that heavy. The atitude/dg/cdi were pretty heavy, but the G5's have those batteries. So, maybe 1lb total. pretty insignificant overall.

Thanks for the comment. Are you talking about the one where I adjusted the rigging and messed it up? What I learned from that was to make the jigs (from the book) and adjust everything according to those jigs and it ended up needed the left flap adjusted down. Now it fly's hands off and straight. Basically, a smidge better than before I messed with it...

I get the shiny factor, but in your own words, you don't get what you paid for them added to the value of the aircraft. What is the gain?

When you get 100,000+ MORE SUBSCRIBERS, you might get some consideration in negotiating a tiny bit better deal. Just be advised, Garmin dealers are known for no negotiation on price. You can threaten them with Avidyne, Dynon, Aspen, MGL, etc., but they will probably still stand on their price. I threatened to leave a hungry, stinky, 2 year old grandson in their lobby. They laughed and showed me the door.
