Isn't it more advantageous to pair up the second engine to directly after the first one, but after the whole first train? 1st locomotive -> 1st train -> 2nd locomotive -> 2nd train. It's not like you are hoping around manually from train to train. That way, you can drive them independently, when you reach the destination.

You don't even need the remote control it just makes it easier. As you can switch between teh two engines and use both of em that way can get quite hectic though.

Also, was it not the case in Overhaul, that cooling is dependant on air availability? so that if you block the air intake with another car or locomotive, it would start to overheat much more? That means, it's better to have a leading train that you run constantly and the ones in the back are just helper trains.

Thank you for this series. I started a new campaign myself in VR and your videos help a lot to understand the different jobs. I'm really exciting by the Simulator version of Derail Valley. Can't wait.

I've watched just few of your videos but this game looks so nice and so much more advanced than Trainz or Train Sim. I like that you can earn money , that you can control via remote the loco , that you can walk , get jobs from ATM's etc. I will buy it very soon. When you are coupled to 2 locos and controlling one of them by remote wouldn't it be easier to give both of them less trootle so they don't overheat so fast but they still keep moving the train uphill , than keep switching between the loco that pulls?

You don't have to fit consist you're dropping off between signs, but only between switches. Developer said so in one of update videos, and I personally tested it too. Some jobs simply won't fit between signs, and it's so my design.

As someone with over 300hrs on this game i can say that you can take the food factory turn at like 40 and come into shunt yards at 50 and you'll be fine

He didn't explain the reason for the car count +1. He had to add +1 for the second locomotive. The decouple of -X number is you're uncoupling the X thing behind the *paired* locomotive. Say you had 3 DE2 and you paired the first one, the first behind the paired locomotive is the second DE2. So in that instance, the first actual train car would be -3. If you did like he does here, but with 3 DE2 instead of 2, you would come 10 cars from the back and add +2 for the two locomotives. If you count back from the paired locomotive, it would be how many cars and locomotives to keep -1, so in Squirrel's case he would keep 10 cars for the LH job and 1 locomotive behind the paired one, so that makes 11 he wants to keep, so he would *disconnect the 12th car* in the train. That's where the -12 *really* comes from.

In reality would a rolling disconnect even be possible? Assuming the system is feeding air through the lines to release the brakes, surely disconnecting a line whilst pressurised would be impossible / incredibly dangerous?

Probably late to the party but from OWN to the FF&T it is uphill 1/2 and 1/2 downhill. it is definitely not downhill all the way.

Squirrel i do have some Questions on the Simulator update once you get it like how often will train breaks overheat or loco breaks plus will they finally let us go in the restroom on the train the other question I have is are they going to model in train batteries dying to if lights left on other question is please derail valley a regular series on your channel I love this game I want some good idea's once simulator comes out I am at current end game I love it I like the layout of iron ore mine east so nice

The generator is essentially disabled if you dont give it any throttle, so thats no issue

I have a question. Do you recommend me to get the licence for shunting jobs? As I had as of late seen shunting jobs of that freight haul that I did to the x station. Like last time where I had transported tractors from Machine town to Farm. I parked the train and finished the jump, but when looking for the next job, I can see one shunting telling to unload where it says it comes from Machine town to Farm, and it looks like the same set of tractors that I just came with. I just wonder if there was some kind of bug in my game, or if it is how the mechanics are of the game

Shunting jobs are jobs within a yard. Usually, it's unloading cars that you brought in or that were already there and then parking the empty cars, or fetching empty cars and loading them up, which will then generate a Freight Haul job to carry them where they need to go.

@@showjack1109 Which I thought so far. But is it worth to get the licence just to "unload" the cargo I came with to whatever station that happens to be it? I know that shunting itself arent giving much, but it can help to clear up and make some new jobs while Im there. Like at the farm

​@Daniel Jensen you can get really great jobs with shunting. Sometimes at harbor town there are 15000$+ shunting jobs wich generate 100.000$+ jobs. So yeah it is worth it.

Hey Sqirrel, did you know, that the "Fan"-Button is for cooling the Loco down with the fan in Front of the Machine? This would help you some with the Temperature-Problems :)

The Fan on the DE2 is an engine fan. The fan is not a fix but it dose help a little. I think it might use a little bit more fuel by don't quote that!
