I like to think that all that's happening is the airport and dock workers of Tropico are simply boarding the import ships/planes and plastering a giant "Made in Tropico" sticker on the shipping crates before letting them leave for their new destinations. This is clearly one of Penultimo's plans. "Presidente! I have a brilliant idea! All we have to do is buy cheap goods from other people, then slap a fake sticker on them that says they were carefully handcrafted here in Tropico! Then we can sell it as luxury goods! No one will ever know the difference!" Its just missing a mission to print paper for the labels. Also, the new spiffified stock images are incredible.

It's not really unintended when there's a faction in the game that literally encourages you to make money this way, is it? And if you start from the colonial era, you have to survive all the way to the modern age to attempt to do it. Not to mention you still need a large amount of money at the start to play the game purely this way (which is kind of a reflection of the real world, sadly), which means that if you play with less starting money, you still have to make money the old fashioned way at first.

I mean, that's why they put in place regulations that you're not allowed to use bots for trading. Within milliseconds buy stocks that go down and sell as soon as they go up again. Essentially creating money from thin air.

You know, while this sounds insane and you generally don't get goods for free that you can sell for a fortune, there are some weird real world trading too. Norway like herring so they fish herring. They freeze and ship it to China who cans it and export it to Norway... Which kinda makes me wonder if China have hired Spiff to handle some of their trade deals (or possibly one of the villains from Captain Planet, this is also money out of nowhere with a big pollution as a bonus). I mean, when Norway is the biggest importer of Norwegian herring, something fishy is going on and it is just one example of oddities in real world trading, you can find plenty of them.

So, I just realized you could literally do this in real life too. All you need to do is find a product that is produced in country A that has a trade ban with country B, buy said desired products from county A, then sell said products at a markup to country B. Now, this may be illegal in some cases, so make sure you do your research, but this could be a decent side hustle for some people. Shoot, you don't even need to necessarily buy trade banned stuff, you could literally just find a country that doesn't import a brand's product and sell it online. There's probably more to it than just buying the products and selling it on Ebay (a lot of those products say "Not for individual resale") so do at your own risk. This isn't financial advise. Do your own research to make sure you won't get in trouble.

Spiff have you ever “played” a video game in the traditional sense?
@primoshunter3 жыл бұрын
Technically, what you're doing is just real world economics. It's the same thing that Amazon and other retailers do. Import cheap products at a discounted rate and proceed to sell them with a marked up price. Should be called "The Glorious Country of Wal-Mart"
