Mega Drive has 3D scrolling floor. Bigger sprites. Higher resolution. No slowdown and selectable speed. This results in better overall game-play. All the SNES version has going for it is more colours and the typical sampled audio which do not make a game better.

SNES couldn't handle Aquaman's spear? Also SNES version lacks the "3D floor" and has reduced screen size (notice the black bars at the top and bottom). Many SNES multiplat have reduced screen size more likely due to lack of power, this game here and also Cool Spot, Jungle Book, Final Fight, Mortal Kombat 3...

I had to check this out, because the creator of Diablo said in an interview, this is how Condor met Silicon Synapse and created Blizzard. They had no idea there was someone else making the same game for a different system and met in a booth at a trade show. He described the games as "oddly similar".

The Sega Genesis version was developed by Condor, Inc., which would later er be known as Blizzard North. Blizzard North is known for the Diablo series. The SNES version was developed by Blizzard Entertainment. They were both developed under the supervision of Sunsoft. In the Sega Genesis version’s story mode, the fake Justice Leaguers vanish into the form of a laser upon defeat. The SNES version’s story mode has them explode and disintegrate upon defeat.

Graphics: Mega Drive! It has a lot more detail in it's sprites and backgrounds. Aqua Man has spear in the Sega version Presentation: Mega Drive! Bigger sprites, better variety of detail in it's stages, cutscenes show a big picture of your selected super hero and it not only has an intro but voice acting as well, clearly the SNES version was more of an after thought considering the different developer. Sound: Super Nintendo! The music in the Sega version at some parts just sounds like white noise while the SNES version sounds like it's playing music. The sound effects still go to Super Nintendo because the punches sound better. Gameplay: Can't judge because it's my first time playing either version and I suck at playing them both. Verdict: Mega Drive is the winner. I will be buying the Sega version so I can play- Oh wait, I need one of those cramped, banana shaped 6 button controllers if I want to play fighting games on a Mega Drive. Real verdict: Super Nintendo version wins. If the Mega Drive had a Six button version of the 3 button controller from the start, it would have won.

+John Jameson No you can't. If you want to play fighting games properly on a Mega Drive, you have to use a 6 button controller otherwise you are stuck switching from punches and kicks with the start button and that gets rid of pausing. The Six button controllers aren't even good anyway because they are cramped for people with big hands like me. Point is, the Super Nintendo version wins because the console comes with a six button controller while Mega Drives are mostly packaged with 3 button controllers. Like I said before, "If the Mega Drive had a Six button version of the 3 button controller from the start, it would have won." I also don't understand what the problem is with Shoulder buttons in fighting games. Pressing the shoulder buttons isn't an issue because you'd always have your index fingers on the buttons unless you're holding it like a fighting stick.

+John Jameson It's true you can use any controller or stick if you're playing on an emulator but not so much on a real system. You still have to find I just do not like the 6 button controller at all. The 3 button controller is great but the 6 button controller just feels terrible. It's small, it feels cramped, the buttons are smaller than the original 3 button controller, I don't like the D-pad at all and it just feels like I'm holding a hardened banana. Over rated controller in my opinion.

The game has that "Double Dragon V" quality in gameplay, but looks interesting. The choice of HQ style and even the nice menus, made the Mega Drive technical inferiority less obvious visually, although the sound isn't that good. The scenarios on the Mega Drive are very nice, with perspective effect on the floors, but some of the ones on the SNES are colorful and beautiful too.

MD/Genesis has bigger sprites, but they look kind of goofy. The SNES sprites are smaller but better drawn. Weird tradeoff there. The SNES absolutely obliterates the the MD in the backgrounds, though. No linescroll on the SNES floors, though, which is odd. The Md/Genesis definitely has cooler cutscenes, but the music and sound is really awful. A shame since the Genesis is capable of so much more. I'd have to give the SNES the nod for sound simply for not being offensive :P I think I'd rather play the SNES version, but this is an interesting comparison this time.

I wouldn't call the Genesis sprites goofy. It's definitely less professionally drawn overall, but apart from that stiff doll-like Wonder Woman the sprite art in the Genesis game is generally quite respectable, and certainly far better than anything you'll see in Human Killing Machine on the Amiga, or either of the 16-bit versions of Batman Return of the Joker. I've wasted quite a bit of time looking at the sprite sheets from both games and some frames in the SNES look like a jumble of scrambled albeit very well shaded clumps of assorted anatomy. And that's why I think the Blizzards sprites come across as more professional, comparable figure drawing to Condor's sprites hidden under absolutely godlike shading and use of color. And I also wouldn't say the backgrounds are a total loss. The only stages in the Genesis game that really don't hold up in my opinion are Batman and Darkseid's stages. Otherwise they hold up well. For example the mountain in WW's background is quite well drawn and even though it uses only a couple colors it manages to look like it uses more. I feel like you are seeing these games in the exact same way I they looked to me a few months ago. When I first saw then toe to toe I thought "wow, Genesis is better" and over a bit of time I began to think "wow, Genesis graphics really don't stack up" and now I've pretty much settled on "both look pretty damn good".

Genesis: better character animation and cutscenes but crappier sounds and stage designs. SNES: better stage designs and sounds but crappier cutscenes. Both move sets are equally good. I always had the feeling that Sega put more memory space into the graphics and less in the sound. That's why Nintendo always had the better sounds but slightly less good graphics.

Jogos bem distintos...Não joguei mas o do mega me parece mais dinâmico e rápido como sempre. Na maioria dos cenários, os do SNES dão um banho em qualidade, mais detalhados e bem feitos que no mega, que apresenta um bom tratamento nos sprites dos personagens e tem mais cut-scenes.

Jogos parecidos apenas no nome, até as produtoras são diferentes oque torna a comparação bem mais interessante, no SNES apesar de ter mais cores e cenários mais bem trabalhados peca nos Sprites, já no Mega Drive/ Genesis achei os cenários muito mais fiéis as HQ's apesar de serem menos detalhados, outro ponto negativo no Mega foi o som, ta horrível nesse game, realmente difícil escolher um vencedor, pela primeira vez não sei dizer, ótimo video VC, lembrei mais uma vez da minha infância, aluguei muito a versão Genesis quando criança, nunca tinha visto a de SNES, bom trabalho.

Este jogo pro ano que foi lançado, poderia e deveria ser bem melhor pra ambos os consoles, não usou a metade do poder de ambos. Referente a comparação eu daria um empate, em alguns cenários o mega Drive ganha outros estão melhores trabalhados no Super Nintendo além da animação de fundo ser um pouco melhor no console da Nintendo em contra partida o modo história e a apresentação é melhor no Mega. O som é inexistente em ambas as versões. Infelizmente um jogo esquecível.

Genesis has better cutscenes, and... that's all it has going for it. Super Nintendo has much better, more colorful graphics imo. And the soundtrack on Genesis is beyond wretched. Not to say the SNES one is particularly good either since the themes don't really fit a fighting game, but at least they're ok tunes on their own. I can't speak for control since I've never played either game. So at least cosmetically, SNES wins
