Walking into an arcade in the 1990s and hearing people playing SF2 before you could even see the machine was awesome. That machine was louder than all the rest. You could hear "HADOKEN!, HADOKEN!, ....SHORYUKEN!" from across the arcade. It was almost intimidating as a young kid. What a great game.

What an amazing memory that moment in time gutted its not that way anymore . I was genuinely blown away recently where my partner and I live in England we went to stay at her friend's and she lives right near a place called Barry Island beach and it has a ton of arcades with game cabinets galore and it was heaven when I was young anyway this time I went in to have a quick go on one and I'm not joking there was not 1 single fuckjng game cabinet with sticks and buttons not fucking 1 the closest they had to anything there was shooting or racing games , mostly gambling or trivia bullshit not a single gaming arcade cabinet in sight and that was the same in each of the arcades there baring in mind to the beachfront used to have at least 6 huge arcades with tons of games in each now though not 1 . Sad fucking time

Arcade is the best place to play VS game. Online vs can never replace the real excitement of sitting next to a stranger. The tension were super high. And we all made lots of friends in the arcade.

Same bro, 38 years old here and used to watch over the older kids playing it at a local milk mart convenience store when I was 5-6 years old here in Toronto Canada ..one day I had 2 milk jugs to return they gave me 50 cents..it was empty and I played street fighter 2 arcade in that shop and and I think that was it for me ... was a fan all my life until today. (street fighter 3rd strike was the last one is really enjoyed, not into the newer ones with the 3d style animations and goofy looking characters)

I genuinely wish KZbin didn't take such a "quantity over quality" approach to picking which channels get promoted. We need more channels willing to take time and care when making videos, like Strafefox's work.
@CasualGamers

I hear you. KZbin algorithm is all about pushing garbage. It does not favor content creators who take its time to make a thorough and well crafted piece. What's worse is that it rather pushes creators to change to lower its quality in order to produce more frequently. I much rather have quality recommendations like strafefox than all the garbage it offers me everyday.

To see my childhood so lovingly depicted and the dedication and pure joy of the developers shown here in all their naivety of what they would build together....it feels so weird to be a part of history in this way now. Ah, Street Fighter 2 the classic timeless master of all fighting games. Just like usually, Strafefox made another great video about classic game and never disappoints me. This what I have heard about the development of Street Fighter 2 home console ports: Porting Street Fighter 2 to Mega Drive was problematic for Capcom due to Nintendo was trying to make sure home console ports of The World Warrior and Turbo are SNES exclusive. Luckily Nintendo did allow Champion Edition to be ported to other home consoles. Sega also demanded Capcom to include gameplay content from SNES port of Turbo in Mega Drive release.

But I had Street Fighter 2 on the SNES, a Japanese copy, the boss characters still all had their original names. Then I also got the Championship Edition on Mega Drive. Absolutely superb video, convinced me to join your Patreon! Keep up the great work. A similar video on Daytona USA, Virtua Fighter, or the first Deus Ex would be an instant favourite :)

It's amazing how much planning was needed. I liked the detail about how sprites were done via keyboard in 32px tiles.

I can't even explain to my kids what is was like at the age of 8 to all pile into the video shop after school and play a street fighter 2 tournament with my mates. There was always that one kid in the area who could absolutely destroy everybody. Great days. Great game
