Also my FRIEND who is riding this is riding a bit crazy through the city isn't he? He's breaking all kinds of laws running those stop signs. Should I tell him to calm down a bit? 😮

Yes, he is giving pev users a bad name being so reckless.

Most definitely you should.

You're there, I wasn't, so it's not easy for me to say reckless... but helping another rider live to ride another day is the important thing. I'm not always willing to slow down today, but instead of being the indestructible knowitall teenbuck who would just go faster I found out... that's why humans made racetracks! Let's make tracks for scoots!

is that the ABS shaking your camera every time you brake?
@AlienRides5 жыл бұрын
That’s probably correct, I’ve turned it off sense, but the abs definitely caused the whole scooter to brake with the pulsing brakes. I mostly just use a chest cam these days since i find the camera angle to be more appealing.

@@AlienRides I literally just found out about these 10 minutes ago I never knew there was anything like it. I was wondering could I use it as a proper mode of transport, thanks, you answered most of my questions in the comment section already. I hope this doesn't turn in to a repeat of the drone incident. I found drones on KZbin and bought one the next day had it two weeks and then decided I needed the goggles all in I spent 1750 euro. That was only a few months ago and now I've clicked on this.
@AlienRides5 жыл бұрын
@@downswingplayer9712 electric scooters like the Dualtron Thunder are a really great form of transport, and a ton of fun. I'm sorry you've found my videos, it can definitely be a very slippery slope money-wise, but totally worth every cent! 😅 There are cheaper ways to start though, like the wide wheel/10x, lots of great options out there to have fun. Thunder is the very top-end and overkill for most. At the end of the day though, these are much cheaper to operate than cars/gasoline, and will pay for themselves over time.
@downswingplayer97125 жыл бұрын
@@AlienRides The first one I saw was the turbowheel lightning but as I looked into it more I would have concerns about the battery. I would probably be doing 35KM a day 5 days a week I think the Thunder would be more suited to that kind of use. Rain would be a big issue I live in Ireland, I hadn't thought about it until it came up in the comment section. I don't regret buying the drone I was showing it to my friend for the first time the other day it reminded me how cool it is. I respect anyone starting up a KZbin channel, good luck with that.
@AlienRides5 жыл бұрын
@@downswingplayer9712 Yeah, sounds like you'll want a 24ah battery or larger, the Thunder, Dualtron 3, or Speedway V could all be good options for you. Most scooters are ok in the rain, but you might want to add some additional silicon sealant to be 100% sure. Drones are sweet, I'm planning on getting one soon, got my eyes set on that Skydio right now. Thanks for your support and comments.
@jpoorr99735 жыл бұрын
The Thunder LIVES! I'm sure you ride it a lot just not filming all the time. The 740 mm bars are working great. I could trim them down a little bit maybe to 700 mm. For now I'm going to leave them as is. Down here in South Florida I don't have to deal with all that congestion like you do. We don't have that parking on the side of the road crap. With the wider bars it's definitely more stable at high speeds. Also there is less Flex in the stem because of the force being spread out more through the wider aluminum bars.👍✌
@AlienRides5 жыл бұрын
Awesome! I definitely want some larger handlebars. I probably ride the thunder 1-2 times per week, but it’s typically the same route so I don’t do a new video unless I’m trying something new out, in this case the gimbal. I would like to do some more modding videos soon though. Our city is definitely not very bike/PEV friendly, I need to get out of the city sometime. 😅

😂 group rides are a lot of fun, but it can quickly escalate when you get caught up in the speed. Hopefully no serious injury or death will come, but if it does, I want it on video.
@jpoorr99735 жыл бұрын
I just had to put this out there when it comes to brakes. One of the arguments that the guy from minimotors USA tried to tell me that I should get the Thunder instead of the ultra is that it comes with hydraulic brakes which is an upgrade. They may be a slight upgrade but they are still low end hydraulic brakes which are made for stopping bicycles. You put them on a 80 to 90 lb scooter and try to stop it at the speeds these scooters can go the heat generated is going to cause glazing. That's why I didn't care about the hydraulic brakes that come on the Thunder. I use my mechanical disc with the regen set at 4 which is high. It takes some getting used to because the initial pull slows the shit out of it quickly. But riding like that I'm not generating all that heat on to the rotor and pads. If minimotors wants to do a real brake upgrade they need to put high-end dual piston hydraulic brakes on their scooters.
@AlienRides5 жыл бұрын
JPO Orr yeah, that’s a good point, I don’t trust the brakes and have regen at about 4 also. I’ve gotten used to it personally, but many people don’t like it. I want all the available braking power I can get though. Thought about doing the magura brake swap, but might wait until my next scooter for that.

How water resistant is this? I just ordered mine but I’m scared of risking it in the rain since I have an Inokim Ox already!
@AlienRides5 жыл бұрын
I believe you can wipe it down and be ok, but I don't think you can submerge it in water or anything. I would be ok riding with it in a light rain as well, but probably better to avoid anything heavier than that.
@seiryu80865 жыл бұрын
Alien Rides have you found that you had to do any maintenance on it in the few months you’ve owned this so far? (flats, brakes, other problems)
@AlienRides5 жыл бұрын
@@seiryu8086 Ooh, the scooter specifically? My waterproofing comment above was about the quark, but about the same applies to the Dualtron Thunder 😅 I've had relatively low maintenance so far, just occasionally topping off air in tires, but no flats yet. Brakes are still good, but I use a lot of motor braking. I do need to apply some silicon grease to my stem since it's started to creak a little bit, but that's about it. Overall very happy with the purchase still.

Is there some issue with the Quark horizon calibration?
@AlienRides5 жыл бұрын
I think it was working in the beginning but I turned it off about half way through the video. It started shaking quite a lot, and I think that’s why the tire looks so shaken early in the video. It’s possible that the motor is not strong enough for these speeds.
@ValorHeart5 жыл бұрын
Why your ABS is getting into operating each brake?
@AlienRides5 жыл бұрын
I think this is just how Dualtrons work, unless I have some setting wrong. The ABS is kind of just "always on", and pulses whenever you brake. It would be much better ideally if it only happened when needed, but I'm not sure if there's any electric scooters that support that yet?
@ValorHeart5 жыл бұрын
@@AlienRides i've seen videos of Thunder's without the ABS to kick-on each brake, i suggest you to check it
