You have no idea how many times I’ve watched this video... I’ve never heard anyone have the same viewpoint on photography as I do. I’m a high schooler and all of my friends and peers on social media just take and post pictures that I find so dull. I want to capture something and show a message and create a feeling in a picture. I’m also a massive over thinker and I’ve got raging social anxiety so I also just constantly feel like I don’t fit in and I’m not carefree enough but art making and photography are my safe places and they make me feel happy. Also 100% agree on the camera thing, people think way too much about the things used to create something.

jess hannah I think when you're a perfectionist you self criticise a lot and considering that he's been conditioned to do this from a young age his mind is probably wired to continually look to grow and evolve on his efforts which requires critique. It's a balance game, critique yourself too much and it immobilises you but not being critical enough then you don't learn anything.

Being an artist is so crazy, but so wonderful all at the same time :)

The obsession over his smoking strikes me as sad, childish, immature and judgmental. Adults do many things for their health: emotional and physical. They do many things for emotional comfort that might not be the best for their physical health. If smoking helps his anxiety, fans need to mature and understand the balance between emotional and physical health. Other humans overeat or eat food that is bad for them instead. Everyone finds their own balance. Being stressed and anxious has a serious physical toll and comments like these seem to be entirely ignorant of this.

When he is being complimented and is saying thank you, you can really tell that truly he wants to reply with self criticism because I know I'm like that. But part of trying to get past that self criticism is to just say thank you when people compliment you even if you yourself doesn't believe in the compliment.

Do you remember, guys , when youtube used to recommend interviews of people in the sixties and we felt so happy just because we can see them and maybe relate to them and maybe we felt sorry for people of our time . Well this video will definitely be one of those interviews . People in the future will see this beauty and will feel sorry for their Time . THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS IT MEANT THE WORLD .

I love everything about this interview- Duan's congeniality, finding your originality without being conditioned by how expensive or cheap your camera is. I love the fact that this is more focused on the artistic side of photography rather than the technical part. You seem like a very smart, inspiring, chill bunch of friends. Xx

Great photographer conversation, thanks for sharing and making this video for us to hear about Cole’s work. His photography’s has a fresh perspective to it, you can tell he loves it.
@eggnoodles20327 жыл бұрын
Thank you for attempting to condemn nudity. Its a terrible thing how people call themselves photographers, when all they have is an expensive camera and a pretty exposed woman. This is not artistic, this is bringing dirt into art. Honestly, photography is not creating the beauty in someone by putting makeup on them, or adding pretty colors, or taking their clothes off. Photography doesn't need creation of beauty, it is finding the beauty, and capturing it. This is the true essence of photography. Its profoundly upsetting how this is what major photographers are known for know and days. If you look at the difference between Cole Sprouse's photography of people (especially women) and compare it to other general fashion photographers, then you will observe a distinction. His photos of women are not sexualized at all. They are fashionable and everything, and I personally enjoy his landscape photography to a greater extent. But, I am happy that a well known actor working in a sort of sexual show (no hate against his role as Jughead) doesn't carry sexualized aesthetic. Bravo, Cole!
@hahahoho66066 жыл бұрын
I know this is a late reply But, you don't have to equate sexuality with dirt. If some women enjoy their sexuality and like expressing it in their art than we can respect that. Everyone has their own idea of how to express their personality/confidence, some people enjoy being conservative and others enjoy being risque. There is no need to shame their choices.

I know a lot of people have already commented this, but this video is honestly so inspiring. I've never felt so inspired in my life! This video is absolutely amazing, Duan. I got very emotional whilst watching this because as Cole was speaking, I started to connect with him on a such a personal level and everything he said in this video was what I would've said if I was in a video talking about Photography. The fact that Cole was the very first person I could connect to on such a personal level, about Photography, is incredible and it means a lot to me. Nobody in my family is interested in Photography, so I always feel as if I have nobody to speak to about how much I love it and how much it means to me. I agree with everything Cole said about how Photography can be used as a way of relying on someone's natural beauty and using it to sell the image, which I agree is hugely wrong and unoriginal. The whole idea of using a person's body to satisfy people is disgusting and wrong. This is the third time I've watched this video now. Everytime I watch it, I just want to pick up my camera, go outside and shoot. Duan, thanks for making this video. It means a lot to me ❤ I love you and Cole very much! I still have a few more things to say, but I think I've said enough 😁xx

This was such a great interview! I especially love the point he made towards the end about the female models- just finished reading Leah Darrow’s book “The Other Side of Beauty” as a former model & America’s Next Top Model contestant she speaks on this and sheds so much light. So good to hear more people (especially from a male photographers perspective) speaking truth on these issues

I just want to hang out with this guy, honestly. I used to love hanging out with friends in a parc, smoking cigarettes and having deep conversations. This interview made me so nostalgic...I always loved photography but I never had time to really try it. I love how you can express so many emotions through a photo and I really like the fact that Cole always speaks about beautiful places, landscapes and how it was therapeutic for him. He definitely inspired me and I’ll start a little bit and see where this adventure will take me. Thanks for this interview Duan and to your friend as well for taking time to talk to us, it was really nice.

Ten Kick So true ! And why people would care ? I mean, it’s not their business
@aminasn9917 жыл бұрын
Ten Kick the whole " everyone jumps off the bridge " argument isn't logical. You can mention a ton of other harmful things but that doesn't make everything fine. That's quite irrelevant and she can do what she wants. I'm just shocked that people actually admittedly smoke CIGARETTES.I don't drink pop or eat fast food anyway 😂. But the fact is that something that is known to have carcinogens and lead directly to lung cancer is casually used by people is surprising. I think the public is less informed on fast food and it hasn't been proven to take 5 years off your life (yet) or give you LUNG cancer. Anyway, like I said, she can do what she wants. She could shoot heroin if she wants to in my opinion. Im just curious as to why someone would choose to do that. Like what is SO appealing about cigarettes that people would risk the effects? Bad eating habits I can see but cigarettes? Is being seen as a hipster worth all of that? I genuinely want to know.
@sofiaebrh7 жыл бұрын
Ten Kick Thank you for noticing my paragraph aha, but yeah, it’s like being judge immediately because I said «smoking cigarettes »...
@aminasn9917 жыл бұрын
Ten Kick the only time where I actually have an issue with people smoking is when they are harming others (smoking with kids in the car for example). I personally find it gross but it wasn't a personal attack.

He is one of a kind and he is such a great photographer. He is also such an inspiration in life for me and I am very glad that I watched this video because now I know much more about him and not just the image that shows of on social media.
