Silver Charm--one of the few greats that understood what he supposed to do on the track. You knew you'd have to go through hell and back if you were going to beat him.

The lack of early pace made it possible for the the two French entries to finish that quick . Swain first took silver charm on but got tired and then loup sauvage challenged him and just lacked something.. What a ride from Gary Steven's who could do only so much to get the leader going 5 furlongs out. Silver charm I think could have handled a much quicker pace and held on . His class and amazing fighting spirit got him him on top. I can imagine the thrill he gave rider, trainer groom and connections on that day. It must have been absolutely awesome : looking beat, surviving.. Being challenged again and winning by a nose or something .... Just incredible. You can't beat horseracing when it comes to emotions.

Swain amazing horse for a turf champion to only go down by nose in breeders cup classic and Dubai world cup and that is because he had no dirt experience before those 2 races.

Gutsy Horse...All Heart...Even During The Belmont he was as Tenacious as it gets in Stretch finishing a Close 2nd at 12 Furlongs...Had he Not been so Wide on far Turn he Probably Wins The Crown....He now resides on a Farm run by his Biggest fan...

I loved Silver Charm but he should face been DQ’d and placed second here. He impeded Swain in deep stretch.
