In the UK, the CTX1300 is now very collectable, 2014 reg bikes are now in the 6 Grand area, low mileage ones go for even more, one year in production, 4 years to sell them all, grab one while you can,

I am seriously considering buying one. Having had cruise control on my last bike I agree it is a bad omission and might yet be the deal breaker. Thanks for info.

I've owned one of these for about a year now and all theses complaints about the mirrors are way over blown. If you adjust them properly they give excellent rear visibility. I've owned many bikes over the years and this one is by far the most rock solid stable bike at freeway speeds, and when going through dirty air from trucks it doesn't shake or get unsettling at all. I refer to mine as my own personal Amtrak, it really is that smooth and stable. I got mine as a leftover in 2016 for 8 grand, brand new..... If you are looking to buy one, do your homework and find a leftover and you'll get a sweet deal on an excellent bike.

.. really, cause I found the exact opposite to be true. The fairing seems to catch the wind and pushes the front end around. Not a very good feeling. Oh, and the mirror location plain sucks!

Rotate your bars down about half an inch and the mirrors work like a charm. Unless you have aftermarket stuff mounted all over your brake fluid containers blocking any possible glimpse into the mirrors!

Mirrors remind me of a Bergmann 650. I got used to them, bar end mirrors are available if needed. The truth is the bike was way too expensive for a bike that had all it's sharp edges and personality neutered. People like qa bike with some quirks, maybe a big HP at the top butr buzzy, thats fine. Boy was it expensive. I remember my local dealers salesmen commenting with negativity on this. Lacking a few important items for cruisers and lacking the warranty it should have. Tourers at Honda have 3 year warranties, this has a shortened warranty.

@ Data David fine choice in bikes there!! I agree with you about finding dealers. Yamaha and Honda are the most common I would have to travel a ways to even find a triumph dealer let alone a BMW dealer!! Thanks for watching and commenting!! Ride Safe!!

Very informative! I'm actually considering trading my Harley in for the CTX1300 soon. I saw one at the dealership the other day for the first time and I loved the look. Just wish I could test ride it before I pull the trigger.
@Dubbsrider9 жыл бұрын
Christopher Circe I would find a dealer that would let you ride it first. You make have to drive a little bit to get to one but definitely find one to drive first even if you don't purchase there. I love it but to each his own ya know!! Thanks for watching and commenting!!

Christopher Circe I do love my CTX 1300. That is the way I got mine was test riding it at my local Honda Dealer. My local dealer is at: www.heartlandhonda.com . When I got it, it was one of the first demo models and I do love it, compared to the Goldwing. My dealer has reduced the price of this bike, from when I first got it.

The fact of the matter is no one is going to buy that bike, with all the negatives that you present in such an honest way. Just the fact with the mirrors alone is dangerous on many levels, add to that the frustration of the bag and no accessories is a disaster. I decided last year that this was not going to be a bike that was updated and most likely will be discontinued and when that happens , you will be trading this bike in for something that you can really rave about. I ride a custom wideglide 2013 but I think the yamaha is looking the best for sport and touring. You cannot beat the mirrors and the digital display nor the bags on the Yamaha FJR

Ya hit the nail on the head as we all know by now as it was only produced the 1 year here in the states. And yes, he did get rid of his CTX. makes ya wonder how much he really loved it.

thanks for making these videos. it really is informative to see a long term analysis of a bike like this. I'm glad you mentioned the mirrors. I thought maybe it was just the view from your camera playing tricks, but sounds like it really is badly done. weird for Honda to F it up like that. mirrors on a motorcycle, kinda important. well again, thanks. and what part of the country is this? it's really nice (we in so cal love any place that's green. it's like magic to us, lol)

I owned a Honda st1300. loved the bike but it was just a couple of inches too tall for me to handle. I am considering a CTX1300 and wondered if there was a lot of engine heat from it, more than is normal for a bike.? My St 1300 put off a tremendous amount of heat even at highway speeds. If this one does then i need to plan ahead when i buy one. Thanks for sharing these videos.

The Street Glide is NOT in the same league, but yet you end up trading in the CTX for a Street Glide. Hummmm. I own two Harleys and was thinking of owning a CTX, but it seems the bike is nice, but then again, it is a plain Jane ride. Nothing special so it dulls the soul.... Thanks for the review and pros vs cons. This bike was only made for 2 years so the customers spoke with their wallets, I guess.

I just sat on one of these in a dealership and the problem with the mirrors was really obvious. The bloke in the shop was shocked when I pointed it out to him. He hadn't even sat on the bike. He suggested that there might be alternative ways to set up the handlebars to improve visibility, but it seems to be to be a huge design issue if you need to reconfigure a bike out of the box. Other than that, I loved it!
@kirkkw8 жыл бұрын
Yes, the handlebars are rotated to resolve that issue.
@340rps7 жыл бұрын
Not really, bring them up and they get blocked by the reservoirs. Bring them down and all you see is the handlebars and your hands. Horrible engineering. This should be a recall. Fix, buy aftermarket mirrors to go on the reservoirs.

I started looking into the CTX after looking around at ST1300's, and I saw these are CHEAP! There is a big dealer 100 miles away from me (rural area, not a lot of dealers here) that has three 2014 BRAND NEW CTX1300's, all under $10k, and a used deluxe with touring pack with 800 miles on it for less than $9k! They want them gone, and for some reason people don't want them. I am chomping at the bit to go sit on one and see if it fits. Seems like a fucking shit ton of bike for less than $10k!!!

I want to ask you about windshield, it’s looks for Goldwings??? I have normal ctx1300 touring windshield so the wind hitting above my eyes on top of my head sometimes makes noise when it’s windy. So this windshield makes different??
@Dubbsrider4 жыл бұрын
This windshield is for the CTX and it worked well for me with the wind. I also liked the touring one though so this one may not work the best for you if you don’t like the touring one.
