Dubler MIDI Capture Walkthrough (2023)

In this video we show you how to use Dubler's MIDI Capture companion plugin to record MIDI melodies, chords, and beats.
Recording with Dubler MIDI Capture plugin creates an extremely intuitive workflow and allows you to record cleaner pitch MIDI directly from within your DAW, minimising the need to clean up unintended notes and speeding up your workflow.

With Dubler 2.2.0 released, we've added some exciting features to MIDI Capture:
- Our best MIDI yet! We have improved our MIDI Capture algorithm, resulting in even more accurate and cleaner MIDI.
- Interruption free recording: MIDI Capture will stay armed unless manually disabled, allowing users to continue recording takes without having to re-enable the plugin every time.
Session clip history: MIDI Capture will now save previous recordings, allowing users to stay in the zone while not losing any versions of their idea.
Automatic key update: MIDI Capture now automatically finds the closest matching key to your idea, meaning users can get started quicker than ever. Users can choose to use the updated key or the original key set in Dubler.
Capture triggers with MIDI Capture: Navigate between triggers and pitch/chords through the icons in the top left and right corners of the plugin.

so so so dope. I have the mic + software + scarlet and I got lost beat boxing...hoo... I didn't realize I could also just use it like a keyboard. Towards the end of the night I stumbled upon my voice triggering a reece in real time and I debated just staying up and going HAM on these tutorials. glad I got sleep but yea, came here to say that the hype matches the results and that's rare. i'm super into ai across the board and this is in my top three with comfy ui. as much as I want to spread the word (and I do), I love that it's a secret because it's magic seeing somebody playin a guitar with their mouth or beatboxing fart wavs (a favorite of mine - may have to record a video for the vochlea folklea)

Question: couldn't you also access Abletons API , to directly inject the cleaning-algorithm for notes which has been recorded live directly into a clip? Hmm, i guess that might be a lot of work though - and would be restricted to Ableton/specific DAW.

I’ve downloaded both Dubler 2 and Ableton lite. There are no VST folders (I’m a complete noob so I don’t even know what this means) in the plug in section that it shows at the beginning of this video. I’m getting a little frustrated trying to get this all to work. It has been a massive uphill struggle so far. These videos seem to assume that we know what you are talking about, but I am coming into this with zero knowledge!

Hi! If you go to Ableton's preferences and select the "Plugins" tab, you can enable the "Use VST3 Plugin System Folder" control and then if you click Rescan (at the very top in the Plugins tab) the plugin will appear. Hi! If you're using Dubler 2 on a Mac computer you can use your microphone to record both MIDI and vocal audio at the same time

Hi! After installing Dubler 2 the Dubler MIDI Capture should appear in your plugins list in Ableton. If you haven't set up Ableton to scan your computer's plugins folder you can head to Ableton's preferences and click the plugins tab. Here you can enable the Audio Unit and VST3 folders. Then if you click 'Rescan' at the top, all of your plugins should appear.

Hi! When you download the Dubler 2 software the Dubler MIDI Capture VST should automatically download to your computer's plugins folder. This means it will appear in your DAW. If you're using Pro Tools it won't appear because the plugin unfortunately doesn't have an AAX format. If you're not using Pro Tools and it's not appearing in your DAW you can email our support team at [e-mail] and they'll get right back to you!
