Thank you so sharing these videos. They really have captured a time that has long passed and has almost been entirely forgotten. Please look after them. They are so rare, they would be well worth preserving in a sort of "national archive" for posterity.

Superb stuff, and thanks for the memories. I stood in utter amazement as a child at an aircraft with the whole front open and cars being loaded on a lift. I had a particular fondness for the Viscount, although I think Aer Lingus had stopped using them by this stage.

Fantastic stuff! Great to see TriStar demonstrator in colour, first time I've seen that. Loved the Aer Lingus 707 take-off, an absolute classic, and of course the Bristol Freighter barely climbing!

Ya got some great footage there.Armstrong Whitworth Argosy,operated by Aer Turas who also operated the Canadair CL44 around the same time.Tristar,the aircraft which used the RB 211,the engine that bankrupt RR.Flew on one Dublin,NY when Delta flew them.Good to see piston power was still alive in the form of the Bristol Freighter.They were kept in service by default,due to to the fact that the French air force still operated the Nordatlas which used the same powerplant and RR (Bristol) had to still provide backup.

This is great stuff. The Tristar is N305EA which was on a promotional world tour at the time. It also appeared at the Farnborough Air Show in September 1972. I would guess the date of this footage as being August 1972 . Ironically, none of the Tristars ever carried the BEA livery because by the time they started being delivered, BEA had been absorbed into the new British Airways so carried the then new BA livery.

Thanks for that post. You have confirmed my memory. I was surprised to see a TriStart in Dublin as early as 1970, and in the BEA livery. I remember a Tristar flying into Dublin, around 1976, in the BA livery.

Some absolute gems here, such as the Eastern TriStar with BEA titles and also the Aer Turas Bristol Freighter.

747 at dublin shocked
@j.o.15162 жыл бұрын
Why shocked? Aer Lingus operated the 747s on a daily basis from around 1972 all the way until 1995.
