We used this song at my mother's funeral. She was a proud dub. It brought, and still brings, tears to my eyes.

Noel Purcell gives the definitive rendering of this song... but the song (Lyrics and Music) was actually written by Leo Maguire, well known from the 1950's to the 1980's as the presenter of the Walton Programme on Radio Éireann/RTÉ Radio 1 each Saturday afternoon.

It's the very best version of this beautiful song. I'm sorry he didn't profit from it. He was a greatly loved man, especially by his fellow Dubs. I was lucky to see him one day in McCambridges in Johnson's Court, a tall and gentle giant.

Finally...the voice of Dublin...why do the others even bother???? Mind you the pictures are VILE!!!!!
@ShayFarrelly6 жыл бұрын
Alex O'Donnell thanks for your comment, but a bit harsh to state that someone’s work is VILE, some of these photographs were taken by people who were new to photography and learning their art, and although this is 7 years ago and the photographers may look back and agree it is not their best work, I still think it’s unfortunate to use such language. Your opinion would have been good enough without the last sentence, in fact I think the last sentence only acts to detract from your view. Many thanks for taking the time to view and comment.

Alex O'Donnell a final point I notice you haven’t presented your own work for comment either.
