@rrowell41638 ай бұрын
The answer begins with the landlords who no longer live in these areas They buy the properties & only care about maximizing profit even if it means they & the tenants running down the property .The more tenants crammed into one property the more rent to fatten the landlords pockets for the next purchasing of another property to rent ,the cycle continues .They will cut corners to make as much money as possible .When the tenants leave especially due to falling behind with rent the landlords simply dump the old & trashed fridges & mattresses etc & replace with pretty much old & cheap second hand furniture Instead of taking the old trashed furniture to recycling centres the landlords drive around early hours of morning and dump it on street corners If they renovate the property they often won't pay for a skip to place the rubbish & old furniture in They dump things anywhere during the night The owners of shops also drive around and dump there rubbish - because they don't want to pay the extra fees to have there own rubbish collected .They also rent part of the shops to tenants .Go figure if landlords put cleanliness over profit they would not rent to mucky tenants Both tenants ,landlords & shop owners are chiefly behind the dumping & fly tipping .It only takes a small amount of tenants ,landlords & local shop owners to make a road or area look unkempt.

Ahhhh mate! Lol! I lived in Handsworth from when I was born and up until the age of 36, actually on that Road the Black Eagle Pub is on. This pub was amazing, if you look in to its history it used to win Best Pub in Birmingham awards all the time. It also had the best food and the punters that used to drink there would travel from places like Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Harbone, Coventry etc. It was very renowned and much loved. I still go in when I can as I had generations of family and friends that’s used to drink in there, so a lot of memories in that place. It was a great place to be and you would always meet great people in there. However the whole area has really gone downhill in the last 10 years as evident in your video. Thanks for making this video (Even though Guinness wasn’t great) bought back some great memories 😂👍

aye up! can't believe you've travelled down south. birmingham is pretty grim. i live about 10 miles from brum near wolverhampton and the surrounding towns are just as bad. a lot of unemployment, druggies, chavs, ex cons and dole dossers around here. it's always been a bit of a poverty area but over the last 5-10 years it's gotten worse. i work in a town a few miles away it has a large ethnic community; rubbish and stuff dumped everywhere. not so great britain anymore.

@CorvusCoroneCanisLupusSawel8 ай бұрын
@@honestplaces most definitely, mate. a lot of people are better off on the dole and/or they've just never worked so don't know anything else; it's a generational trait. in a block of 10 flats, i'm the only one working. in the other 6 blocks it's probably 75-90% non working people. it really is bad around the west midlands and the black country now. a lot of the industry is gone which led to high unemployment, apathy, drink, drugs, mental health issues etc...but there are those who do something about it and those who don't. keep up the great content. appreciate it. p.s. that guinness pour was shocking.

The Black Eagle was a Real Ale destination at one time with a quiet, well kept beer garden and restaurant extension. Quiz night was bustling with both locals and people who had travelled in on the tram to visit. Now, a couple of years later it's a dump.

Yeah well done filming Handsworth following the trend like Bald and Bankrupt or Joe Fish and Backpacker Ben, Handsworth is NOT a synonym for Birmingham just ONE bad part of the city so your video is not an "honest place" reflection. Go to Cannon Hill park, Bournville, Selly Park, Kings Norton, Edgbaston, Harbourne, Quinton then "honestly" tell us Birmingham is the worst place ever. You only ever film fractions of the places you go to.
