I’ve watched the clips on KZbin of many’s a game from back then and I can honestly say the standard was fucking cat. Big aimless agricultural kicks up the field that were invariably straight to the opposition defenders. Next to no skill on offer or no such thing as solo dummies or cuteness. If people think the standard nowadays is bad they ain’t seen nothing.

I totally agree with you. I grew up watching the Dubs in the 70s until the present day, and the fitness, preparation and skills are so much better. Sure look how the women have come on in leaps and bounds. Give me todays game and today's Croke Park anytime. Croker was a kip back in the 70s.
