We haven't forgotten the reception we got in Ballinlough and Cloonfad after the final last year, and I'm guessing it was repaid in spades after the thumping our lads gave you in August. The fact that some of the best Mayo footballers over the years have come from the town of Ballaghaderreen which is in county Roscommon rankles somewhat. But I have no problem supporting any other Connaught team if Roscommon are knocked out but, as a boy attending many matches in Hyde Park, I found Mayo supporters gloated and rubbed it in when they won whereas the other counties were just happy that they won and didn't feel the need to make us feel worse. Then Mayo come out with this narrative "everyone else in the country supports us bar Dublin" why don't ye just be happy that your entire population of a very big county support ye without trying to claim everyone else's support? I doubt ye would shout for Roscommon or Galway if ye were out of the championship, sincerely doubt it. As things stand ye have only won one more all Ireland than Roscommon so start winning and stop complaining about stupid curses or bad luck. You make your own luck in this world.

Unfortunately sentiment doesn't win championships. Nearly never won the race. Second best is first loser etc. Great winners show no mercy. Mayo should have punished Dublin 2 years ago in the first semi final, they went to a replay and lost. They should have punished Dublin again in the first final last year, they didn't. They had more scoring chances this year, but still scored less. These are the hard facts that people must come to terms with before they look at refs, or Dubs or any third parties.
