I would love to see all tournaments adopt a blind pairing system to eliminate opponent-specific prep.
@KeepChessSimple13 күн бұрын
That is basically how the internal competition of a (European) Chess Club works. It's like a year-round tournament of around 40 games where you get paired every week for a classical game. Games count for rating but you don't have to do anything with your scoresheet so games are not saved online.

Why ? What a horrible suggestion

@@Narmanostardoll your Mom thought it was a good idea when I asked her last night, just passing along her idea.😝

If this happens and there is a pairing of two players with 150-200 point rating, then the stronger player would always have an advantage. The preparation gives a bit of help to weaker players

With the knight on c6 you can usually pick up the c4 pawn with Qa4 in case you don't see anything stronger

After 17. e5 Nd7, my first instinct was 18.Ne4. Otherwise, if 18.d5, black gets 18…Bg5!? and white’s play I don’t think is so clear. If 18.Ne4 Bxe4 19.Bxe4 and 20.Qh5 white has an attack. This kingside attack seems stronger if you close the queenside too with c5 earlier.

17. E5 Nd7 18. Ne4 Bxe4 19. Bxe4 cxd4 20. Bxd4 Bc5! All of this is forced and you don’t have much of an attack because you have to take care of your center and a few pieces get swapped off. Black can also take on d4 before taking the knight on e4. I’m not convinced this is better than 17. d5.

Personally I delete all the GvL games as silly, marketing profiteers gone mad who don't even realize the meaning of the words they're using, as in football, black Friday!!!! Good luck!
