What a masterpiece this is and would become...along with the whole album.

Wow the demo version of this song sounds so close to the album version! I think I like it a tiny bit more actually. 😉😊😎😍

Glorious, thank you again for sharing. Love the fact I've notice things or the subtle changes, fantastic.

Yep, there are some differences from the single version. No congas, no guitar in the choruses, that reverse TR-808 loop is way higher in this version, delay on the snare...

@@stevehillieruk just shared this with my boy, and been talking about it, both impressed , he's the more technical one. Is there a reversed sample in there somewhere too?
@stevehillieruk3 жыл бұрын
@@davidcox2716 There are at least two reversed brass samples in there, plus a reversed TR-808 loop you can hear in the chorus :)

@@stevehillieruk thank you, love it. Really is a great version, now awaiting the next gem you treat us to. And an inspiring insight for Ed.

This song is timeless, sounds so fresh it could have been written this year not nearly 30 years ago! One of my all-time favourites. Messaged 6Music this morning saying this after Chris Hawkins played it. Thanks for sharing, Steve.

Do you remember which drum machine you used for that metallic percussion sound at around 2:30? Sounds like something by Aphex Twin, ha-ha

Hi Steve. Thanks for sharing this! It's always interesting to hear a demo track, especially one for this song since this is what hooked me into being a fan of the band. Question - of the 18 versions - well, 19 now - of the song out there now - and this is taking into account the album version, acoustic version, demo and remixes by The Rapino Brothers, Mother, Way Out West, Motiv 8, Xpress 2, Vission/Lorimer and yourself - which version do you have an affinity for?
@stevehillieruk3 жыл бұрын
Well, I love the Way Out West mix and the acoustic version...that's my fave. Motiv 8 is great too, although that was more of a cover than a remix.

Did you end up keeping these vocals in the final version ? Because Sarah’s voice is perfect !
@stevehillieruk3 жыл бұрын
No, Stephen Hague completely re-recorded them at RAK Studios in London. These demo vocals are very good though
