No microphone in the world can justify the sound of a Ducati, which is a shame. It has to be heard in real life.

Another new bike. How do you do it. Are you prince or something?? 1198s are great bikes. Congrats.
@markgoodrich12 жыл бұрын
engine size, and the 1198 has a dry clutch while the 848 has a wet clutch. the 848 also has smaller brakes. The 1198 has a 190 rear tire but im not sure if the 848 is a 180 or 190. Other than that cosmetically they are the same.

that is the best lookin 1198 ive seen so far, i saw the passanger foot rest are two ppl supposed to share that one seat or is there a cover on the very end of the bike? and whats your weight & height because i wanna know how i would fit on a 1198 it maybe too big.
@hen55512 жыл бұрын
Oh really? I never knew it had bad reputation on maintenance. I dont like the idle sound that much but I really like the mid range sound ... nice low and torquey growl. Sounds very powerful...I want to get a ducati 696

Yeah i figure it would look a lot different in real life but i still think a single pipe down the middle under the seat would look nice...maybe split into two exhaust vents but nothing too protruding. how do you like the bike btw? im thinking of getting one in the next month or so.

@venkat147 That just means they have their priorities right! Who needs a car when you have a Ducati?
@zuluboy579013 жыл бұрын
@zuluboy5790 Also V-twins do not have power output for a sport bike and also can not center well on the frame which is why they use a L-twin......You see this problem with buells....Ducatis are more torque oriented while a jap bike like an r6 is more high end power. Meaning that the r6 gets it power output at around 10k Rpms and goes up depending on mods,tunes, etc.

Could you give me an estimate of maintenance costs for this bike? I ride about 15-20k miles per year on the bike I have now. I'm thinking about upgrading to either a Ducati 1198 or a CBR 1000RR. I LOVE the Ducati, it's beautiful, but I don't know if it's practical or not.
@gstehouwer10 жыл бұрын
20k miles per year is not gonna be cheap on this bike..
@trruble975510 жыл бұрын
Hey man I have a 1098 Not sure what the mile intervals are but every 12000 km you have to have the valves checked. You need to have the belts done every 2-3 years. other then that it's just regular oil changes. Dry clutch does not last as long but man it's much better then wet clutch once you get used to it. The bike itself is phenomenal. Power when you need it at all times no matter what gear your in. You'll love the bike. It's very nimble and powerful, I put a 180 tire in the back and it was even better. I'm back on a 190 now and can't wait til I burn out that tire. Good luck man the bike is worth it

Everyone saying the have reliability issues are wrong. The older Duc yes but I have yet to have an issue with my 1198. With any bike if you maintain it and take care of it it will last.

did u made some changes to the bike (modifications) ?? :)
@niksinthe91613 жыл бұрын
@takeshijames23 Well one's a v-twin, the other like an R1 is a Inline 4, 5 valve per cylinder with more rev. Like comparing a vtech civic to a Chevy lt1. My opinion is only on the 1198s since that's the one I had gotten to ride and its 2nd to none. I will always favor the R1's sound I don't think there is anything like it but the Ducati is just so perfect its so balanced and is sooo sexy it will one day replace my 01 R1
@jayman170913 жыл бұрын
@takeshijames23 its because they have 2 cylinders

Dooooooooode, i am in love with this bike...but i can't stand double exhaust that sticks out that far in the back. I like side exhausts that are flush with the body. Idk, to me it seems sleeker and sexier but every man to his own i guess.

How high from the ground to the lowest point of the seat, men??
@Danlovestrivium13 жыл бұрын
@nEEdLzZz This couldn't be further from the truth. Ducati made drastic changes almost 5 years ago to shed the stigma of high maintenance costs. The 7500 mile maintenance is only $750 at a Ducati dealership. This used to be over $3500 on the older bikes. Having owned just about every Jap bike under the sun, this is a pretty good deal considering the fact that I've never been on a bike that comes close to my 1198.

the 1198 is a some how heavier than the 1199.. The feel of 1199 is better than the 1198 having a proper center of gravity when you counter.. but thats just me, never had a 1198 though, just the 1199 tri..

@peterinfamilyguy 20mins after posting that comment it broke down on a busy dual carriageway (second time I had ridden it).... =( lol but anyways i don't really know coz I'm 6'3 my feet touch the ground easily. i would of thought you would fit on it but ur best bet is to actually go to a KTM dealer and sit on one. =)
