Ducati 600ss Freeway Ride to Coast Powersports

Quick trip down to Coast Powersports on the Duc to order some parts for the '74 Yamaha DT250 I am restoring (videos to come soon!).
And a wander around their new shop - looks great. Met Mark, the owner almost 30 years ago, before he was the owner, through our then girlfriends (now wives) that were working together at the time.

im just about to buy a 600ss,,97 was hoping to see the front end of yours,, do they have (old school) standard forks or upside down,, all the pics i can find show upside down, one im looking at is old school.....

@@kawakarma thanks ,,yes they are all upside down, but i ended up with a monster 620...love it..will post a vid soonish..

How reliable have you found the 600ss?

@@Hagrid216 Hi, its been pretty good since we got it. Previous owner had it for 18years and really looked after it. Only issue has been this battery charge drop last week so the bike just stopped. Popped the spare in and no problem. Still working out if the battery is dead or there is another issue. Arranging a 'service masterclass' with my uncle on it. He is a retired Ducati mechanic. Will be good to capture his insights on this bike in a vid.

Hey cheers Aaron, I'm in Adelaide. I'm having a rectifier problem at the moment - apparently not unusual on the 600 - no charge getting through and shes just dying - will replace in the next few week and we'll be solid again!

Hi Aaron, no, have been overrun with building an extension to the house and the Ducati is boxed into the garage by building materials for the moment! Missus doesn’t put motorcycle maintenance very high on the priority list! Probably a couple of months before I get to it - but I will and will certainly post an amateur maintenance moment on the fix. Cheers
