I've actually ridden with one of these bikes in the early 80's. It can safely be revved a bit more. One mate had a 900SS another bought a wrecked 750SS and used another mates rolling chassis. Two Ducatis sounded great.

It can be safely revved a *lot* more and it is actually much better for the engine to run a significantly higher RPM than in this video. I've put several thousand miles on bevel twin Ducatis, rolling on the throttle from below 3000-3500 RPM there's torque available, but it will lug and is much happier above 4000 RPM. Especially from 2000 RPM, that's much too low and while it indicates good carb synchronization to do it smoothly, it's hard on the engine to ask it to produce enough torque to accelerate uphill from there. Trying to accelerate from low RPM makes the cylinders have to produce more force per power stroke for the same amount of torque at the wheel versus using a lower gear at higher RPM. At low RPM for the same acceleration it's sucking in more air on the intake stroke and then working harder to compress it to a higher pressure than if you downshift and get the RPM up around 4000-5000.

Would like to see this revved some more through the gears.

he's luggin it big time... but you can do that with the old bevel drives.

Agreed, No wonder it stalled. Is this his idea of running it in?

It's a desmo and we didn't even get to hear it do its thing. He's lugging the hell out of it.

Actually you shouldn't lug a old bevel drive. They have ball bearing in the crank and rod bearings.. It is damaging.
Mi piace la tua moto: fantastica !!!!! Prova a guidarla con più fluidità : usi troppo l'acceleratore. Prova a mantenere il gas costante. Bellissime strade !!!! Mi piacerebbe fare un giro insieme.

Any idea where one would get a restoration done on one of these in Canada?

If you want something done properly. Do it yourself.
never got above idle, prolly wear your big ends out riding it that way

Riding like an old woman. Keep the revs up, otherwise you will overload the crankshaft below 3000rpm

@@Johnathan.David.Trewhitt. I own a similar Ducati. When you keep the revs up the oil flows freely. If you don't and the engine seizes you will have an enormous bill. Ducati parts and the very few expert engineers who specialise in these motorcycles will cost you a fortune. Anyway, how is your Ducati running?

@@philhawley1219 so it cant idle without bricking itself. don't have one and these are way before my time.
