This is the best DesertX video I’ve seen to date. Super helpful, really necessary. I had no idea what part I needed or how to do it. This solves both of these issues for me. Cheers man.

Ratchet strap hack worked like a breeze. Went for the Eibach 0800.225.0600, 10.7kg. Yet to test. Thanks for the video. Super helpful.

Used two car jacks under the rider foot-peg mounts to support the chassis of the bike instead of the ladder frame, rest of the steps remained identical, and with the right set of tools, this made for a fun Sunday afternoon job.

@@koalakoncepts Wonderful -- really look forward to it! Given that you've also changed the wheels, will be interesting for impressions on how they are changing the ride, and how that plus the spring change is working out so far, and your impressions of the front end -- and if an ohlins/tractive upgrade for front or rear is tempting. Thanks again for the videos, they're nicely done and really helpful. Not a DDX owner but recently sold my KTM 690 when I moved from Kenya, and now looking at a midsize, with this top of the list.

@ssmith954 The wheels are definitely better and well worth the upgrade. An upgraded rear spring is a good compromise untill you sort out what you want from the bike. Ive now found the front to dive too much fully loaded and too harsh when the compression is cranked up, so have ordered tractive for front and rear and that should be here very shortly. And will be giving that a big test on a trip across Australia in a few weeks.

The stock spring is 525in/lbs and you only installed a 550in/lbs spring. For 120kg loaded to set the proper sag (30%) you're still sprung to light. 650in/lbs or even 700 would have been better suited. I'm around the same weight with a 700 in/lbs spring installed and still needed 12 clicks of preload to get the proper sag number

Currently fully loaded yes im still slightly too light on the sag. (Which everyone seems to be worried about). But that spring is perfect for a 110kg/100kg setup.

The Teknik website lists springs in excess of 9.8Kgs. Was there a reason why you chose the 9.8kg version and not higher?

They were the ones recommended to me by them for what I want to carry and my size. There are larger for that reason or if you are riding 2 up.

@@koalakoncepts running the same rate, just needs valving. If you notice it still bottoms out on slow whoops, don't do what some others are and chase heavier springs, you could go up 4 from where you are, it'll ride like a truck and still bottom out. Match the valving and you'll be stoked!
