They're talking about this as "slow" it wasn't many years ago that 75 horses were considered scary-strong. I'm sure that for the majority of riders that's fast enough, especially when you consider the traffic-situation around the world.
@vegarosa695 жыл бұрын
This is not a beginners bike. This is a bike for people that are moving up from a 250/300 cc bike and want a more powerful bike or for experienced bikers that don't desire a zillion hp bike. I have a Monster 696 and its a ton of fun to ride, which I know this bike would be the same. 75Hp on a bike that weight about 400lbs is a lot for most people out there.

As a 'beginning rider' of 56 years experience, if I didn't have my '15 Scrambler Ducati Icon I would certainly consider one of these.

I have 57 years experience and just took one of these for a demo ride. As a former Triumph/BMW owner I would encourage anyone considering the New 900 and Scrambler from Triumph to ride this 797. I was impressed and the $9300 price tag is extremely competative. I'd have one in a heart beat + it's still air cooled!

I think this whole "beginner bike" shit is getting a little out of hand. what happened to riding 250s for a couple of years as a beginner bike. I really think a lot of reviewers perspectives are way out of wack! big time! they go riding the fastest and best handling bikes in the world of every variety, then jump on a 70nm torque bike and think ahhh what a great starter bike. I would have seriously got into trouble i think if i started out on one of these bike or the yamaha fz07 or Suzuki sv650. I remember jumping on a 390 duke after being on a 250 for 3 years and thinking "fuck me!! why on earth does anybody "need" more talk than this to have fun? I was shocked at how quick it was just because of how bikes are portrayed in media and reviews constantly saying too slow or not fast enough for highway speeds however in reality most bike 250cc and above are good for almost anything if your starting out. Basically if your looking for a bike and your new or relatively inexperienced i say go try some 300cc and up bikes and i bet you will be pleasantly surprised at how satisfying they can be.

It depends on how old you are. I started riding a couple of months ago at the age of 30 and I'm not gonna spend 5 fucking years working my way up from 125cc bike or something like that. So I got ER6N which is similar to what I was riding in the riding school as I was obtaining my A license (MT07) So far everything is awesome and it's been nothing but a smooth experience. However I'am planning on getting something like a Bonneville or MG V7 because the ER6N is not a very comfortable bike for any ride that's longer than an hour.

I own one of these bikes, passed my test on the MT07 and bought the 797 as my first big bike. Its perfect, as the reviewer pointed out, the power is linear and it’s not scary at all for a beginner, there are no big surges in power, it’s very smooth. This bike does build your confidence and I’ve had it just over 6 months now. Motorcycle beginner training is so more comprehensive and thorough nowadays. I also went the old school route as well and learnt my road craft on a 125 for a few thousand miles first. Moving up to the 797 was easy and seamless.

As an older(54)rider slow is relative to skill. Many lack the skill to ride a slow bike fast as they are reliant on electronic crap. Gear indicator. No one needs a gear indicator, learn how to ride you’ll remember what gear your in soon enough. Ditch that lunchbox attached to the exhaust muffler and all and put something decent on there and go out and ride

Does nothing that the new SV650 doesn't do for £ 2500 less ... and in fact I think the SV actually looks better as an overall design package ( with an aftermarket exhaust ) , is much more reliable and far cheaper to run .... how that makes the Ducati an "ideal 1st bike" I'm not sure !

It's useless! Beginner would buy smth lighter with smaller cc and definitely needs gear indicator! Only Ducatti lovers can buy it.
@itzFYEB7 жыл бұрын
a gear indicator is definetly not needed and can be something bad for a beginner. in order to ride properly you need to know your gear without looking at it. just like in cars.you don't need to look at the lever to know which gear u are in.
@exothermal.sprocket7 жыл бұрын
The neutral light wasn't lighting when he selected neutral with the gear lever. That's a problem nearly no manufacturer in the world has. With that high tech assembly line, those high tech design computer tablets, those high tech CAD/CAM stations and they can't get a neutral light to light up when neutral is selected. This is just typical of Italian electrics. Japan would be laughing.
@anemoia26617 жыл бұрын
As a beginner rider, I feel that a gear indicator is completely unnecessary... if you can't work out when to shift gear or track what gear you are in whilst riding, then I feel you shouldn't be riding at all in the first place

The worst version of all Monsters... Sorry but check the stetic, in 696/796, the sub frame and all parts, was perfect cordinated. after in the 821, the bike became in something more heavy and difficult to drive. in this model, 797, definitely it feels the touch of VolksWagen group. lost many pieces, the famous italian design was changed for the cheapest and simple design. lost the sub frame. used the tubular to unit the whole bike, reduced many plastic parts, the shock absorber is practically outside of the motorcycle (maybe good in scrambler, not in monster).... and more and more.... Finally i'm proud to continue to keep my 696 2011 , the last model of pure Ducati , Before being acquired by VW group. (sorry for my bad English)
