For the 20 hp range, you could've also included the Royal Enfield Meteor 350, which shares the same engine, frame, and brakes with the Classic 350. The Classic 350 IS coming to the US, BTW! First, I love these videos from Bart. Each one is entertaining and interesting to watch. My comment concerns ride by wire, because many people don't understand the technology. In addition to motorcycles, I also have extensive experience with Remote Controlled Aircraft, both airplanes and helicopters. By there very nature, they are all fly by wire. With RC aircraft, you can design you own throttle curve. If that curve is perfectly linear, it will perfectly mimic a throttle cable. With motorcycles, the manufacturer will use a ride by wire to comply with emission regulations so that in lower gears you can't get Wide Open Throttle, or WOT. So ride by wire might not be intuitive, but it has a purpose which is lower emissions. If you could map your own throttle curve on a motorcycle, you could exactly match what you used to get with a throttle cable. In other words, it's not that ride by wire isn't intuitive, it depends on how it's mapped. If ride by wire is mapped linear, it's exactly the same as a cable.

Royal Enfields are reliable (however you need to take care of it), it is fun to ride if you don't ride in the city (don't even get me started with false neutrals). The bike is certainly a great (if not best) bike to have especially the newer ones, but don't get it if you are in your 20's and want to use it as a daily driver 80% of the time. It is a unique experience, but there are massive downsides.

@@ffskrishna I had a bullet 500 efi from 2009 as my first bike. It was slow and had plenty of torque. I ran into a few issues with it one where it wasn't idling at a high enough rpm but I adjusted that with an 8mm socket. They are great little bikes if you live somewhere where you aren't going to go fast. 45 is the max speed it wants to go. But if you are okay with that, they are cool bikes to have that perform well enough and get plenty of comments and thumbs up from people who are bombers or into classic bikes.

It’s not much heavier than the Ninja I had previously, and it’s balanced pretty well imo so riding around in the city isn’t bad. I’ve used mine around in Boston and NYC for reference of what I mean when I say city. I live in NH though, so primarily riding is a bit more rural, but more woods rural than plains rural. If I was in the city 100% of the time a 300 would prob be plenty, but if you know you’re going to leave the city enough to really hit the road, then imo the 650 is a perfect bike.

@@lilnips My Coworker had a Rebel 500 as his first bike. Iirc he only sold it because he lived 40min by highway away from work. Tbh I think he thought he'd save $ on gas with it, but wasn't enough of a bike guy to want to ride it often enough to justify it. I loved the Ninja 300 I had first. I think I read either Kawa or Honda was going to bring back an updated version of one of their old 4cyl 250 or 300cc bikes, that sounds like itd be awesome. I had a DRZ400S for a while, great bike, but lose the advantage of fuel injection. If you want that route I'd suggest more the Supermoto style unless you think you'd actually use it off road enough to justify street legal trail tires (dunno where you are and what your rules are). one thing holding back the enfield bikes .. both the new 350cc singles and the 411cc singles and the 650cc twins are the camshafts.. A UK developer have made new camshaft on the 411cc single and the 650cc twin and with the new camshaft and with a better (and lighter) exhaust , better airf-filter the bikes gained 20% more power on the dynometer. bhp tuning in UK got 49.2 bhp on the dyno on the interceptor 650 with some mods..

You definitely have a soft spot for British motorcycles, and that's more than ok! They're great! For the 60 hp range, I'd prefer the Moto Guzzi V7 850, given the Shaft drive and the better comfort. Also, I don't like the Triumph fake heritage engine: Liquid-cooled and 270° crank angle.

The BMW R1250R has around 130hp at 134hp, and has 148nm of torque (106ft-ibs) and is the best bike I've ever ridden. The Triumph Rocket Three you say has 165nm of torque, which translates to 122ft-ibs of torque so it's not double a super bike that has 82ft-ibs.. I only mention this because you got the NM and FT-Ibs of torque mixed up a little with the 165nm and 82ibs-ft. Otherwise the rest of it was a great video! Thank you!!

I would've switched the 10HP pick with the Super Cub, if they didn't add so much new tech and jacked up the price. The Super Cub was supposed to be simple, affordable transportation for everyone, Honda's current direction is the antithesis to that. Also, I'd swap the 70HP pick with the Suzuki SV650 because it's my bike :D

the BMW R18 has seemingly lots of option, seen one "pretty much" naked, no bags, no windshield, but metallic colored air box, classic gauges, "Remus" exhaust and other options witch you could easily over see and it was like 7.000€ more expensive with 35.000€ than a version that looks like a Harley with window shield, bags and huge tft screen and gauges for 28.000€

if your looking for something between 10-20 bhp, the honda CBR125 or yamaha yzf r125 are great options. reliable, look nice, if you slap a good slip-on on then they sound great as well, good fuel economy from a really small engine, and they are loads of fun. every ride i take on my yzf, i have a huge grin on my face.

A good list. I'll pick some nits and make some comments just cuz... well.. it's the internet. Royal Enfield... reliable? My coworker has one and there's ALWAYS something wrong with it. Usually something falling off. And he bought it new. They are good choices for retro posers, I guess. You know, the kind that wear a 3/4 helmet, goggles... hipsters. I rode a Bonneville 900 once and it was the slowest 900 I've ever ridden. I think my 60hp Road King was faster. At least feels and sounds faster. I like the Guzzi V, it's like slicing off 2 cylinders from an old Chevy V8. But.. .they are Italian. Need I say more? The R18 only has 90hp? It's 1800ccs! I would expect more from the Beemer cruiser. You question dealer support for Aprilia, but would go for MV Agustas? Really? I have a 2014 Multistrada V2. It's awesome. They are NOT adventure bikes, even though Ducati calls them that. They're sport tourers with a little bit more suspension travel and a more comfortable riding position. I would NEVER take my Multi off road. But I do have an F800GS for that.
