excellent video, I did a recent oil change on my 2015 821 and found other videos and the manual a bit confusing. You did it brilliantly !!! And I subscribed, hopefully more videos to come !

Just wanted to say thankyou for making the video, I'm about to service my Monster 821 and I'll be using your method to do it. Amazed this is your first video, it's very high standard. I'll hope you'll make some more on the 821!

I can't believe it! I'm so thankful for your kind words. Please let me know if there is something you'd like to see, and i'll try to figure it out, record it, and post it! I have made some videos in the past, but i've never given it a real try to make a channel etc. So this is really encouraging for me!

@@moto.method Hi - just wanted to update and say that I've completed the oil change as per your instructions with all the parts and fluids you recommended and it has gone very well. At the same time I also performed an air filter change, coolant change and brake fluid change. I'm sure that if you made another video that covered all three of those then your viewrs would have all the information needed to perform their own annual service. Again, many thanks and looking forward to more of your videos on the 821!

@@moto.method the motul 7100 and one gasket for the oil drain plug……that’s it. When I asked for the other gaskets, the guy at the counter seemed puzzled and showed me an exploded diagram. I walked out with the oil and 1 gasket (crush washer) since then I ordered all the parts as described in the video. Now I just need the torque spec conversions.

Great job on this very high quality tutorial. My main challenge now is to find the parts online here in Canada. Any clues?
@moto.method7 ай бұрын
I appreciate it! So I looked around, and I’m not sure what part of Canada you’re in, but Ducati Richmond (in BC) has an online parts request form. If you copy/paste my parts list in there, then they should be able to put the order together. www.ducati-richmond.com/request-parts-motorcycles-dealership--xparts_request
@moto.method7 ай бұрын
Oh and just another thing, I tried copying and pasting the list here but KZbin Mobile is being weird. The list is in the description. As far as the materials go, the local hardware store should have the right loctite. Gasoline is easy enough to source. The tricky part is getting the three bond 1215 and the Shell Gadus S2 V100 3. Maybe eBay? I got mine on Amazon. You could call the dealer and see if they will put some in a baggy for you actually. Though that won’t work for the threebond. So either get that online or the alternative Permatex ultra grey gasket maker product. Make sure it’s the ultra!

Hi, thanks for the video! May I ask the reason why you unscrewed the "intake service plug"? It seems not useful to remove and clean the mesh filter
@moto.method3 ай бұрын
@@lorenzorossi6566 Good question! The mesh filter catches larger metal shavings before going to the main oil supply and oil filter. Ducati recommends to clean it every other oil change, but you can do it every time and there’s no harm done :) if you never clean it, you risk metal shavings building up on the filter and restricting flow or worse, a metal shavings getting through to your oil filter!

Do i need to fill the bike while standing or should bike lean to the side?
@moto.methodАй бұрын
@@1king9of8sorrow6 hey thanks for asking a question! You should shoot to have the bike as up as possible. If the bike is on the side, the window will be inaccurate. You can use a rear stand to keep it up, or you can place a piece of wood below the kick stand to keep it more upright. Be careful if using the wood and kick stand though, the bike can fall over easily this way.

Can you please explain what the point of removing the intake service plug is? Seems easy enough but i don’t understand the purpose.

Great explanation. Can you please tell me if the extension for the mesh filter is absolutly necesary ? and if I can use Shell Gadus S2 V220 2 for the mesh filter ? Thank you
@moto.method3 ай бұрын
@@contraculturaproyecto685 Hey! Thanks for the feedback. The extension to get the tool into the mesh filter is not necessary but it does make using the tool a little easier. Just make sure when you’re loosening and tightening the filter that you have your hex fully seated in the mesh filter by pressing inwards. This will help you avoid stripping the plastic! So, it looks like maybe you can substitute that grease, but they have different viscosities and consistencies which might make application different. I like to stick to Ducati recommended if possible, but you should be good with a light coat of the S2 V220 2 as they are the same base lubricant.

Motul 7100 15w50 is a bad choice for Ducati engines. Motul 300V is for track use and it has a very short lifespan. Please use Shell Advance Ultra 15w50 or something better.
