I'm 58, owned 40 plus bikes including 2 tuono's and without doubt my Sixty2 is as much fun as anything I've owned..now I'm not saying I would have held that belief 20 years ago, but for an older experienced rider who's not riding to be the baddest, fastest , biggest toy in the box this bike howls, wails, pulls hard, handles like a demon and puts a smile on my face without ever getting into the 3-figure-licence-Shredding territory of big CC machines, do don't just write it off as a beginner bike..on the right road, an 800 would be no quicker...so they are the roads I stick to cos the bike delivers huge fun without huge speed or cost!! Good review

Nice review. I rode a Honda 400F Super Sport for 15 years, been away from riding for over 20, but got the itch again when I discovered this scooter. Have always wanted a Duke, but my back isn't into sport bikes anymore, and will be moving to the North Carolina mountains near Asheville in the near future. This looks like a perfect fit for running errands into town and navigating the mountain switchbacks to get home.

This was a great video on the scrambler. I am in the DMV area so I thought this was pretty cool haha. I have my eyes set on the scrambler and the BMW G310R. They keep changing the date when the BMW will arrive in the states and I think it's going to be early next year now. That's the time I'll be getting my bike but thanks and I am in love with this bike. Subscribed

@@SeekTruth300 Bought it AND SOLD IT. HAHA I ended up hating this bike. Ran way too hot. I would fry on even a cool day. Wasn't any faster than a Vespa 250 at top speed, but with way worse gas mileage. Super expensive to service. Also very uncomfortable to ride. I kept sliding forward on the saddle. An expensive mistake. If you're looking for something that can also ride on dirt, I think you'd be better off with something like a Honda CB500x. Sam price range. A far more capable bike. Another thing I hated was no gas gauge. I didn't even realize it until after I bought the bike. How can you have all these fancy components and no gas gauge other than a gas warning light?

Hey great video. You are actually right when it comes to the E.U, although countries have different laws. Where I am (Cyprus) you need a learners for up to 125cc, a regular license for up to 600-650cc, and a different one for anything bigger. I had to do 2 separate tests 2-3 months apart for my 1100cc. LOVE your reviews man, keep them coming

This would be an awesome bike if it was closer to the mid $5k or low $6k mark. I'd accept the whole "pay for the branding" shtick, but Ducati went out of their way to separate the Scrambler marque from the main brand (it's got it's own separate website and marketing campaign). It's the blue collar Ducati, and everybody knows it. But at the end of the day you still have all of the woes of an Italian sports bike: noisy valves, short maintenance intervals, and expensive repairs. Plus, everyone will assume you're a hipster that "vapes massive clouds."
@DukeOfDC
@DukeOfDC 8 жыл бұрын
hahahahahahahha "vapes massive clouds" literally almost had me pissing my pants over here. But I agree, it's a pricey entry level, and you are really paying for the brand.

Nice video - looks like a fun bike! you were pretty much right with licensing laws in the UK: basic learner cap is 125cc but if you are under 25 you can't ride a bike over 45bhp (unless you've been riding for two years) so this bike would definitely fit into that semi-big-bike category. I probably got that slightly wrong as I waited until I was older and got my full licence directly, but it's at least roughly correct. I'm impressed you knew anything about our laws at all. :)

Hey bud! I'll do some research to see if I can get on both of those monsters. I have taken out the standard R1200GS and it was awesome. Go back through my videos for that one! As for the seat height, I'm about your height and surprisingly didn't have a problem with the tall seat height on this thing. It's a rather narrow seat section that allows you to get your feet down easier. That being said I was on my tip toes, but the bike is so balanced, that I was never worried about dropping it.

@DukeOfDC

I would say yes and no. The yes, is that the power is more manageable, the no is that you are missing some of the electronic rider aids that can really help new riders. Although it is important to learn these things on standard bikes.

Mean, but kinda true. There are soooo many better bikes for less than the Scrambler. I think that if you're going to buy the scrambler, you'd enjoy it, but you'd also need to absolutely want a Ducati to make any financial sense out of your purchase.

Bad value for money. You save $500 for half the power of the regular model, and it's heavier? Not a beginner bike, just a giant misstep from Ducati aiming towards the "hipster market." Buy a KTM 390 (Duke or RC) or a Japanese (Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki) 300cc sportbike instead if you want something new. Otherwise buy something used and save your money for your next bike.
@DukeOfDC
@DukeOfDC 8 жыл бұрын
Good advice. I can see where the value is a bit off, although it can't be argued that this is the cheapest new Ducati you could own, and for some people I assume the brand will mean something to them. That being said, I've heard great things about the 390, and the Japanese beginner bikes have been tried and tested by the masses, and universally accepted as great beginner bikes.

I love Ducatis. Haven't owned one (yet) but I've ridden a few and I love them. I just don't see the point of making an entry-level one except for the whole lifestyle branding BS Ducati's doing now with Scrambler. And honestly you could put a "beginner" who's had experience with dirtbikes as a kid and they probably wouldn't die on the regular Scrambler. The power delivery is pretty similar to an old SV650.
@DukeOfDC
@DukeOfDC 8 жыл бұрын
I'm with you there. I had a good time on the bike though, and although I agree with you that some of the lifestyle BS is BS, it's the sales revenue from these less expensive bikes that provide Ducati with the financial backing to research and build the latest and greatest flagship bikes
